Remove anything related to MTG Arena from your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts). If you previously added something to that file to work around problems in the past, that change will break your connection to our servers now. We do not recommend hosts file modifications for MTG Arena due to problems like this.

I show a line that says " 40.84.40.16 client.arenagame-a.east.magic-the-gathering-arena.com " however if I delete it it says access denied when trying to save it. How can I work around this? Sorry not the most techy.

You'll need to run whatever program you're using to edit the file as an administrator.

For example:

  1. Right-click notepad.exe
  2. Run as administrator
  3. Click File
  4. Click Open
  5. Open the hosts file (you'll have to look at all files, not just .txt files, to see it)
  6. Remove the line you mentioned
  7. Save the file
