Hey!

Recently, Castle Garenbrig was broken in two different ways.

First, the autotapper will always try to use it last. It will tap duals over the Castle even when Castle's ability can't be activated, and even when this order makes you unable to cast spells.

The logical rule for Castle is:

  • If you have enough mana to activate its ability, tap basics > duals > Castle

  • If you don't have enough mana to activate its ability, tap basics > Castle > duals

That's also how it used to work until recently. Here's a clear example of it being wrong

- I have a Castle, 2 forests, 1 mana from a Llanowar Elves, and a Simic dual. I have one spell that can be cast for U (it was foretold on a previous turn, so I can actually cast it). I want to cast a Shifting Ceratops for all but one of my mana. The one land that the autotapper wants to leave up is the Castle instead of the Simic land that'll let me cast Ravenform.

Second problem - once you use Castle Garenbrig's ability, you can no longer undo it by pressing the undo button. It used to always be possible (being a mana ability), it no longer is; once you press the ability, it's done (even if you take no further action afterwards).

Edit: Note - Castle Vantress works all fine, in comparison.

Thanks for the report. I've fixed the undo bug; the autotap usage is much more complex. Weighting of mana abilities that have their own mana costs is a really tricky problem that has a lot of confounding factors (e.g. Garenbrig's mana is restricted in its usage). The current prioritization of it is as-designed for the current cardpool. #wotc_staff
