[2023] The Best Way to Show Scopely You Don’t Like the Kang Event

The hand wringing and tooth gnashing is at a fever pitch . . . again.

As a games industry pro with nearly 10 years of experience on a live mobile game, here’s a nickels worth of free advice. If you don’t like the event, don’t engage with it.

Literally no amount of kvetching on social media is going to change how Scopely runs the game. Especially when their analytics are showing them that you’re engaging in spite of your complaints.

I played through the easy mode of the Kang campaign once just to see what the animations were like. Beyond that, I am simply not engaging with the feature. I have no intention of spending a single dollar on acquiring Kang. If all you folks complaining did the same thing, Scopely would be less likely to do something similar in the future. Complaining about it while simultaneously engaging with it will make it more likely they do something like this again.

The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.
