Hi all! I hope you are well <3 I recently came back from #TED2022 and it was such a lovely experience! Before my talk I was very nervous indeed (and excited!). Some thoughts: - Let's talk about metaverses instead of the metaverse. That's more inclusive and the risk of toxic uses is smaller. I want everyone (that want's to) to be able to find virtual worlds they love and feel welcome in. [3/9]

My talk was on #metaverse, which is quite a sensitive topic. There are some visions of what metaverse is that makes me concerned, so I instead want to paint a different picture of what they can be! A picture I hope is very joyful and inclusive! [2/9]

- Metaverses can make the real world a better place in many different ways (and it's so beautiful to see examples of when they do!). They can help amplify voices, help us communicate in a common language, help charities reach new audiences, ... [5/9]

- When it comes to metaverses we can learn a lot from games! In fact, I think metaverses have already existed in games for a long time - It's important to focus on fun, creativity, play and passion! For metaverses, for games and for many other things too. Fun is important. [4/9]

To me, the real world will always be most important. I love love love games and virtual worlds too, so finding the positive connections between the real world and the virtual worlds (or metaverses) fascinates me a lot! [7/9]

be a safe place where we can be creative, have fun and express ourselves in our own unique way. The list is long, and I'm sure there are so many things we can do with virtual worlds to make the real world a better place that hasn't been done yet! [6/9]

- Metaverses should not mirror the inequities we see in the real world. For example, it's much more delightful and inclusive if the resources in a metaverse are part of a fun and fair game system, instead of a system introducing artificial scarcity! [8/9]
