- Originally, there were no Ancient Cities. There were only small abandoned cabins - There was no unique loot - No Music Disc 5 - The Warden itself was going to be much simpler in its AI and would not have done a good job at providing stealth gameplay (no sonic attack)

"Warden, Deep Dark and Ancient Cities don't count as new content because they were planned for 1.18" When we announced Deep Dark and Warden, the plan was much smaller than what we have in 1.19. My point being, I don't think players would have very much enjoyed the Warden and the Deep Dark if we had released it with the scope we had planned in 1.18. IMO it was very much worth pushing it to 1.19 to do it properly with a bigger scope and more content.

- Sculk Sensors wouldn't have any of their unique mechanics around vibration frequencies - Wardens wouldn't have any unique animations for its complex behavior. In fact, it wouldn't have emerged from the ground at all.

- Sculk spreading would be as simple as a random patch no matter what sort of mob died nearby, and would be instantaneous with no unique mechanics around charge and XP conversion - Sculk Shriekers wouldn't exist and instead Wardens would randomly spawn while in the Deep Dark

I would say that it absolutely does count as "new content" considering how much these features have changed since 1.18... And regardless of that, anything that wasn't previously accessible counts as new content 😅

@TornadoWiz I think anything in Minecraft can be described in such a way. "Sure the Trident is cool, but it's just a Trident" Music Discs like 5 are a big part of the mystery around Minecraft. Discs like 11 and 13 have created entire essays. They have a place in the game, for some players.

@TornadoWiz With the compass, yes it's not useful for hardcore players, but that's the same with beds or respawn anchors. There are just fundamentaly some features in the game which aren't useful to a certain gamemode. The rest, I agree that Swift Sneak is a one and done.

@TornadoWiz But it's important to note the most crucial part: the unique loot is not the only loot of the structure. There are reasons to go beyond, such as enchanted apples, enchantments or even simply coal - the only place to find coal under Y 0 unless you get mineshafts.

@TornadoWiz Beyond that, I think the experience is a reason you go there. The gameplay of sneaking around finding loot without getting noticed. I think that is a reward in of itself, a way to challenge yourself. Players still go through other structures with less unique rewards.

@TheSesekriri Not sure I understand. My point is, people's arguments of it not being new content due to it already being announced for another update doesn't make sense. The original announcement had 80% less content. The announcement of Deep Dark content for 1.19 was much bigger.

@Meganpilled @TornadoWiz Not if you don't care about combat. My point is that different players like different things. I certainly know some players who never use tridents. Does that mean tridents aren't good? Of course not - they're a great item to have in the game.

@dopadev @TornadoWiz Well true when it comes to Ancient Debris mining etc :D But I meant the respawning aspects to them

@TheSesekriri Yes, the early footage is always going to be less than the full incluson in the game, but the fact is at the end of the day that the Warden and Deep Dark were never planned to be as big as 1.19 when they were slated to release in 1.18. Not sure what else to say.
