Something I've realized with Mordhau, in 1,500 hours of playing I've come across one hacker/cheater. They had a parry bot and would block everything instantaneously (team was still able to kill them when piling up). It was instantly recognizable as someone cheating, not that feeling of "Is this person just better than everyone else?".
Let's take another game I used to love, Battlefield V. I had to stop playing it because there was a BLATANT hacker/cheater in almost every other lobby. Level 500 cheaters, never facing consequences or game bans.
BF2042 has the same problem, except they removed the scoreboard/global chat so you can't even tell if someone is cheating at first glance. At least BFV it was fairly easy to join a game, hold tab and see who was on the top of the board. 121/0 and not in a plane? Find another server.
Modern Warfare+Warzone, same story. Admittedly I saw there were attempts to punish cheaters but I haven't touched this game in over a year so I can't say for sure if it's working.
I recently picked up Rust (god why) and learned of players using recoil scripts for laser aiming and NVIDIA filters to help see in pitch black night. This is on top of people using ESP and aimbots.
It's hard for me to stick with a game where I have to question someone else's performance based off of skill or cheats, and I think that is why I come back to Mordhau. Even if somehow overnight there was an influx of hackers, we have a votekick option that 99% of modern games seemed to have forgotten.
I guess the point of this all is to say that I appreciate this game and the hours of enjoyment it's given to the community. I'm as bummed as the rest of you when it comes to lack of content and server issues, but at least we don't have to deal with the cheater problems other multiplayer games have.
