Loving Mordhau so far. It's extremely punishing, but in that, success is very rewarding. Well designed, well executed. I'm sure it's got balancing problems I haven't noticed/realized yet, but in general it seems to be relatively bug-free and is a fun experience, even when i'm getting my head rolled 10 times in a row.

The one thing that could use some work is the community. You guys are split down the middle between two f*cking WILD extremes.

One half of you vets are amazing. In ranked duels, these folks notice right away when you're trash and take some time to slow down and tell you what you are doing wrong. This was instrumental in me getting over that first skill hurdle. In MP games, these are the folks who appear to be focusing on the team aspect of the game and try to group up with, and help new players (something you'd hope would be obvious for this kind of game but is seemingly kind of rare.)

These are gracious, helpful players who embrace christmas noobs as the new and growing player base and are at the very least patient. I've seen a lot of these folks in chat trying to guide new players as best they can. This is the kind of base adult behavior an indie game's community should be striving for.

On the other side, you have a bunch of the most vile pathetic cunts I've ever encountered in a multiplayer game. I mean jesus f*cking christ. When you kids aren't calling people nigger and faggot, you are whining and complaining about every single aspect of the game. It's as if you don't actually enjoy Mordhau but stick around because it's a great venting system for your toxicity.

Someone playing archer? Spam in the chat about "archer fags." Someone killed you on horseback? "f*ckING HORSE NIGGER." Someone using dodge in duels because they are new? Better lay into them about how they are unfun to play against and should go kill themselves. They brag about running out and killing swarms of new players, and in fact last night several were bragging about how they will probably get people to give up and stop playing. When they are winning, they are the definition of sore winner. When they are losing, all they can do is bitch about the game because it isn't going their way, and fill the chat with the most basic 13 year old insult spam they can muster.

This isn't a AAAA title, asshats. If you keep driving away new players with uber toxic behavior, you are going to find yourself playing in 12 person lobbies with the same veteran players complaining about how a dwindling playerbase is boring.

Despite best efforts of some of these insufferable sh*ts, i'm not going anywhere, and will be sharpening my skills so that the next time this game goes on sale, I can log onto duels and represent the positive aspects of the game to new players.

Valid points. There's a few things you can do to get rid of this behavior, first being the chat profanity filter (next update it will be on by default) and reporting players if they're being little toxic sh*ts to myself or mods on discord - just need a screenshot of their chat message and a link to their steam profile, and we'll mute them. Alternatively, you can just disable the chat as well, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having it.

(As a side note, please don't use those words in here though - we know what you're talking about and obviously it's in the context of an example, but we're not fans of derogatory terms on the sub in general.)
