As previously shared, the next-gen version of NBA 2K21 is built from the ground up for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. Hello everyone! Erick Boenisch, executive producer at Visual Concepts, back once again. It feels like just yesterday that I was writing the MyTEAM Developer Diary for NBA 2K20! Writing this piece every year is something I very much look forward to; the team here at Visual Concepts makes it easy with their endless ambition and relentless work ethic.

This has been an interesting year for, well, all of us. Our world has changed in many ways. The way we go about our lives is very different than it was at this time last year, but one item that has remained constant is the drive and ambition behind the team working on MyTEAM. We designed much of this game from our homes. Thanks to Zoom, I now know the name and face of every kid that has a parent working on MyTEAM. You better believe they made sure to make cameos during meetings. From our homes to yours, let’s learn about what we have in store for you in NBA 2K21!

What’s up, 2K community! Well, it has been a rollercoaster year on many fronts, and we know it hasn’t been easy for everyone being cooped up at home with most everything in your life going virtual. Hopefully this short blog will give you something to look forward to in the virtual world as you get ready for a new year of 2K hoops with NBA 2K21! It has been a busy year for us at Visual Concepts as we’ve been working hard to bring you the best hoops experience on both the current and next gen consoles. I can’t tell you how excited the team is to reveal all the new tech and amazing advances we’re bringing to 2K basketball with the power of the next gen systems; but for today, let’s take a look at some of the gameplay improvements coming your way for the current-gen version of NBA 2K21 launching on September 4 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia, and PC. What a year it has been in MyTEAM! We wanted to start and end this Courtside Report with a Thank You to everyone who has picked up the sticks, assembled their dream team in MyTEAM, and battled it out on the virtual hardwood. But we’re not done quite yet with NBA 2K21, we have one final three-week Season for you to experience with MyTEAM Season 9: Out of this World!

We’re launching this Season with the appropriately named Out of this World packs. These packs will not only feature a few silver screen favorites, but 4 special cards for the stars of the upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy movie! Add special Dark Matter versions of Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, and of course LeBron James to your collection, featuring artwork for the new Space Jam movie right on the cards.

A new update is now available for the current-gen version of NBA 2K21*. 

Things are heating up on the court, with this latest update bringing back the summer vibes to 2K Beach. We’ve also worked on updating more player likeness and, with the recent start of the WNBA season, we’ve updated some of the uniforms and court floors.

Many more fixes included to improve the overall experience of NBA 2K21 across all game modes.

GENERAL:

• 2K Beach updated with a summer theme 
• Updated another set of player likeness for current NBA players.
• Updated WNBA uniforms and court floors

MyCAREER:

• Keep an eye out for new events coming to 2K Beach in the coming weeks.
