36s here with Dan and Scott uh and we're
39s going to talk about mounts in opr so
43s let's hop to it so where did this idea
46s come from we've had opr and we've had
48s mounts since uh rise of the angry Earth
51s so what are we doing putting these two
53s things together well so we you know
56s obviously when we when we built mounts
58s we kind of had to go through instance
60s like all of our various things and and
62s kind of ask like do we want mounts in
63s this um we we did initially experiment
67s with it um anybody who played in the
69s expansion PTR will remember that we had
72s mounts in there because we were playing
73s with it um and ended up uh there were a
76s couple of just minor concerns um so we
80s did disable it for expansion and you
82s know happy to say that we've kind of
84s ironed out the wrinkles and we've done a
86s lot of internal play testing um and
89s we're going to drop it and see if
90s everybody likes it as much as we do yeah
93s so is there you're saying that we're
95s going to drop it see if everybody likes
97s it so is there um potential that people
101s are not liking it and we rip it out uh
105s well I I think we've you know we
108s initially kind of had some concerns like
110s you know the same concerns that we had
112s internally on the team like is this
114s going to like ruin the flow of the mode
116s is it gonna you know have unexpected
119s consequences for APR
121s um but I think what we what we're seeing
123s internally um and of course like you
125s know we'll need to be watching what the
127s players do because they always they
129s always find unexpected ways to uh love
132s them for it to reveal um new emergent
135s mechanics let's say in in our offerings
138s um but the cool thing about mounts is
141s you know because their instant dismount
143s on on any incoming damage like I think
146s we we mainly see
148s um they you know like if if you want to
151s get into a fight you know like it's it's
153s pretty it's pretty simple to get in a
154s fight I think this will give ranged a
157s lot more to do in oppr to you know kind
159s of keep people off their mouths on the
161s roads and stuff to split up B groups
163s split up the groups I think that's the
164s thing because there's definitely a lot
166s to do in opr for ranged but it it does
169s do the split which I think is a really
171s interesting uh meta that we should see
173s emerge mhm that's cool yeah and you know
176s in general I mean I think it's just it
178s just adds to the chaos of the mode like
180s it feels it feels very fast-paced um you
183s know like like when you're when you're
184s doing things like the boss fight like
186s the mounts working there too so that's
188s pretty fun it's G to get silly anything
191s from the tech perspective that we should
193s be looking out for or um well I would
196s say like you know one of the wrinkles we
197s were originally kind of concerned with
198s was the impact that like moving quicker
200s and having to stream more things down
202s especially in like a heavy combat
203s situation would have and so we've done a
204s lot of improvements uh on that end that
207s I think like lets us feel more
208s comfortable with enabling it now
210s um other than that from from the tech
213s end there's not too much I would say
216s like I'm excited for just being able to
219s get into it quicker from moment to
222s moment you know after respawning or
224s going to the baress um you know a lot of
227s times now you see uh players kind of
231s like straggle in you know one at a time
233s and you know hopefully this this gives
236s us the ability to kind of like move as a
238s big group and and Visually it looks
239s awesome aome to see everyone mounted in
241s like I was going to say was that um in
245s the opr that we did for the expansion U
248s one of the things we saw when we allowed
250s mounts in the opr during that time uh
252s was these massive groups of just like
254s armies running through the map and that
256s was really cool to see and it did
258s naturally kind of split them up into
260s Ranger taking out the mounts and then
263s melee gets to go and hang out on the
264s points so that was definitely cool and
266s that paired with some changes we're
267s making for the doors it's going to make
269s it a an interesting time and I think
271s also like the ability to more quickly
274s get to the far base too is going to you
276s know change tactics a little bit yeah
279s for sure um you know maybe add more of
281s an emphasis on on defending that um but
284s we'll see yeah definitely um well one of
286s the cool things that Levin is having us
288s do is also integrate some Community
289s questions into these episodes so I will
292s pull those from what looks like a card
294s but is actually a handheld Computing
296s device well phones are really thin
298s though it is
301s so all right so first question so I
304s assume mounts were originally not
306s allowed because of server performance
307s and now you have combat rework that
309s increases performance doing both of the
311s same time doing both at the same time is
312s this not just a net zero for performance
315s overall uh no it's not a net zero so
318s like the combat performance stuff is
320s like a huge Improvement um on that side
323s of it and the mounts like a lot of those
325s performance issues were addressed with
327s the release of mounts itself like you
329s know just running through the open world
330s it's important to be able to stream down
332s everything that you're you're like
334s getting to at at the rate that you're
335s able to like Traverse the world right so
339s um it's definitely not at Net Zero it's
340s still it's still an improvement nice and
342s we still have a bunch of optimizations
343s that we're continuously doing um
346s throughout the year so yeah always um
348s but for sure throughout this year you
350s know it's one of our goals is to better
351s optimize the game and this is definitely
353s an area that we feel that it's not Net
355s Zero uh and we'll continue working on it
357s okay next question will you be monitor
359s monitoring to see how mounts affect PVP
361s and opr will players just stop fighting
364s on the road now will range become less
366s useful oh we answer that uh if you but
370s we'll answer it still again if you're
372s adding mounts into opr can you delete
374s Zephyr cakes and battle bread then like
376s why have 10% haste food when mounts are
378s in
379s opr uh I mean like we said you're going
382s to spend a lot of time on foot still so
384s uh and basically when we play basically
387s once you're off your Mount you're
388s usually now like kind of in a a battle
391s ball and there's the um you know there's
393s a delay like when you're you have to
395s like fully be fully out of combat to
397s remount so like the immediate battle
400s really needs to be resolved before
402s you're back on your Mount so like the
404s the Haste The haste food still has a has
406s a role to play absolutely yeah and
408s there's people that don't have mounts
410s and uh we hope for a world Wednesday
412s where everybody gets to mount up but um
415s this is definitely something that
416s they're going to take advantage of yeah
418s and then to the first part of the
419s question like we have heat maps for like
422s player activity in opr and we definitely
425s have like data and analytics that we're
427s we're looking at um so you know if we
429s see you know unintentional Behavior like
432s maybe it's good maybe it's bad but we
434s can you know look at that and tweak
436s things in the future uh will there be
438s any edits to the opr map to make it more
440s Mount friendly like will the side exit
443s points from the spawn Zone get changed
445s will the water depth get
448s adjusted I know that there are teams who
450s have plans for the oppr map um but as
454s far as this is the answer is no not in
456s not for this sit yeah um and then the
460s last question that we have will musket
462s traps affect mounts can mounts get
463s trapped in a musket trap and if not why
467s not uh yeah so we we as Scott I think
472s mentioned in an earlier video um you
474s know we we're looking into that right
476s now um it's uh everything works the way
479s our tent would be for it to Dismount you

516s not making solo trials replayable it's
519s easy content the soul trials are very
521s well done and it's a shame you can only
522s play it once make it a daily with
524s difficulty scaling giving increase
526s increasingly more rewards that's exactly
528s the type of content that people have
529s been asking

533s what in the world is going through our
535s minds that we don't make these
538s replayable
