I'm looking for some sand to make glass for my new colony but although I have a river going through the map it's banks don't have any sand, only dirt. Is there a way to send colonist away and return with or get some sand?

External link →You can make sand from stone at the work shop.
Edit: I neglected to answer the title's question. No, you cannot get resources from other tiles.
