Hello!

I haven't bought the game yet and still may not for some time yet. But I am VERY encouraged at seeing what the game already has to offer and your eagerness as a developer to really iron out the little kinks that bother players.

This genre of game is my absolute favorite, specifically having play Gnomoria for hundreds of hours, Oxygen Not Included for more hundreds, and Rise to Ruins for many dozens more. I imagine you already know of these games but they are a treasure trove of wisdom and ideas for you as a devloper. And I'm also closely watching the development of Space Haven because it seems to also hit on the same genre.

All that being said, I'm very excited to see where you're going! You may have some interest in the Ingnomia project /r/ingnomia, because it's a one-man remake of Gnomoria, since the Gnomoria dev stopped adding to the game far before most fans felt it was fully realized, though Gnomoria in it's current state is still massively fun and addicting.

All that being said, I'm looking forward to Odd Realm being a straight up better version of Gnomoria (or at least in many ways better, I know they're not EXACTLY the same). And I'm encouraged that you're very active on Reddit as well. Developers that engage with their fanbase always make me happy.

In my optimal world, I hold off buying it until it's really really good, but I'm wanting to play it so bad that who knows, maybe I'll cave and get it in the next couple weeks :)

Hey!

Thanks for the lovely words. :)

I'm having a blast working on the game, so no plans on abandoning it. ;) And, it's always nice to hear feedback and grow the game based on that. So often players will notice things that I miss and they're an invaluable resource for making a good game.

There's still a looooooooooong road ahead but I'm optimistic!

Thanks again and have a nice day!

Agreed. But also I'm sure you know that sometimes you will know best and the players won't! Developers that know when to listen and when to follow their roadmap/gut/plans have the best of both worlds.

In any case, I'm not sure how many people are getting into your game but I've found that having a Discord channel can be a good thing so players can easily write stuff. Like autonauts has one and they have an "autosugs" channel where people can post suggestions, which go into a trello board, etc. You may have already done this but I thought I'd mention it as a potential idea.
