Hello friends!

I just uploaded the build for v0.7.0.10. As this build has some very large changes, I've decided to first do a week of beta testing to make sure I don't trash the live game. As well, this game has a TON of tuning changes. This will likely mean your previous saves, although playable, will be unbalanced. I'm sorry about that, but I'm still figuring out a way to properly update old saved entity attributes. Something I should really get on. :/

Anyway, going forward, I'm gonna start doing a different upload schedule to get more help finding bugs and getting feedback. (Thank you to those that recommended this! Great idea.) That new schedule will be: 1st week beta build, 2nd week production build, 3rd week beta build, 4th week production build, and so on.

Here's a how-to for getting the beta build:
How-To Play The Beta Build

I'm going to post a mini-tutorial on the new Room system in the discussion page as I wasn't able to get to adding an in-game tutorial for it. It's a pretty complicated system, so I want to make sure it's understood.

[Edit2] Rooms Mini-Tutorial

Patch notes:
-New Tavern room - Place for settlers to go and relax. Cooks will feed settlers that are relaxing here, giving them the Well Fed state.
-New Distillery room - Place where alcoholic items are created by Cooks.
-New Barracks room - Place where Archers and Warriors will go to train.
-New Training Dummy Prop - Required prop for the Barracks.
-New Barrel Prop - Stores food and is required for the Distillery.
-New Steel Still Prop - Required for the Distillery.
-New alcoholic items - alcohol differs from normal foods in that it provides an energy regain buff as well as hunger regain buff.
-New 'Relaxed' state for settlers. When a settler is tired, they will now either try to go sleep or go to a place to relax and recuperate.
-New 'Recreational' room buffs. There are now three rooms that are deemed recreational: Bedroom, Camp Fire, and Tavern. Settlers will go to these rooms to relax and regain energy. Bedrooms and Camp Fires offer a 2x energy gain mod, while the Tavern is 3x.
-New happiness attribute - a stat that will affect the long term state of mind of a settler. Settlers that are unhappy for long periods of time can go mad or leave the settlement.
-New Room Placement UI - Tons of stuff here. Mainly, showing individual rooms and letting you edit them.
-New sitting animation and behavior - Settlers will occasionally sit in chairs in various rooms. Especially the Tavern.
-New want roof state - Settlers will become unhappy if their room doesn't have a roof.
-New want bed state - Settlers will become unhappy if they don't sleep in a bed.
-Entities will now auto join rooms depending on their profession or, in the case of Bedrooms, their family member relationships. i.e., Will try to join a room with companions and children. When children grow up, they will move out to another room.
-Fixed a bug where '+' would show up on tooltips without additional info.
-Genders are now generated based on which is the minority on the settlement. So, not enough females, next spawned settler is female. This is to help with people not having any children because of a lack of both genders.
-Children are now only born if two companions have their own room.
-Settler state now shown on their tooltip. i.e., 'Idle' or 'Sleeping'.
-Fixed a bug where the 'f' hotkey would deselect a settler.
-Fixed a bug where hitting 'go to room' from room placement would keep you from being able to place down a room.
-Added some feedback for various stat gains. i.e., energy gaining while sleeping.
-Fixed a graphical bug (vertical/horizontal lines) for some resolutions on different zoom levels.
-Tuning changes for Hunger and Energy - Both now have 1000. Raw food will now be a temp hunger regain while cooked food will replenish much more for longer. Energy now affects work output by halving it if the Settler is tired.
-Tables can now be combined to make super tables. :P

I'm sure there is a lot more that I just forgot to jot down..

Thanks for being so patient with me on this update. I'll continue to do mini-updates for the beta branch this week as people report bugs. (I'm sure there will be a few.) And, if you're worried about stability, maybe hold off playing until next Friday's update. That will have a week's worth of fixes and feedback in it. :)

[Edit1] Oh, I forgot to mention that I still have a lot of stuff planned for rooms. here are some of the things I'm still working on:
-Dormitory
-Guard post.
-Merchant.
-Jail.
-Town Hall.
-Temple.

As well, this weekend, I'm going to make a bunch more blueprints for food, weapons, and armor as I wasn't able to put as many as I'd have liked into this patch.
