Short version: I love it and see a ton of potential.

Long version:

I really enjoy colony sims that automate as much as possible. And this game offers a lot of automation. I get to focus on optimal building placement and making an optimal supply chain. The blemish for me right now is combat.

I'd prefer if my warriors would run at enemies and my other villagers especially children would run away. Currently a bandit will come in and some kid will confront him. I can't even micro him away fast enough since he has all of 43 health.

edit: I know the game slows down and gives you ample time to micro fight the bandit but I don't even want to do that much. I want to have enough warriors with good enough equipment and the fighting is automated. Putting the challenge on population and supplies management rather than starcraft style micro fights.

This is currently my least favorite part of the experience with the rest being nearly flawless (even in the early access state). Really love the direction and the fact that humans and ancients play so differently is a huge accomplishment for the dev.

That's great that you are enjoying the game!

I've got some changes for combat in this next update and I agree with your points of feedback. Hoping to improve the combat even more as we go, so look forward to it getting better with feedback from players like you. :)

Thanks!
