At the time of this post we have over 93,900 votes on the Warding poll. And we're only halfway through the time allotted to vote as well. That number may easily grow past 100k votes, making it the largest poll OSRS has ever had by a very hefty margin.
Here is how that stacks up against other content polls:
"Partnerships" and Old School (a.k.a MTX Poll): 62,377 votes
Forthos Dungeon (Implementation poll): 58,690 votes
Kebos Lowlands (Implementation poll): 53,099 votes
Treasure Trail Expansion: 45,700 votes
State of PvP (May, 28th poll): 45,590 votes
Song of the Elves (Implementation poll): 41,552 votes
Theatre of Blood (Implementation poll): 40,641
Dragon Slayer 2 Quest (Implementation poll): 38,324 votes
Now how does it stack up to other polled skills?
Sailing in 2015: 73,796 votes Failed at 68% of the votes
Artisan in 2014: 47,001 votes Failed at 56% of the votes
Regardless of your stance on Warding, it's very clear that players care very much about the implementation of a new skill. Whether it be for or against it, players are coming out in droves to let their voices be heard in regards to new skills. Currently we're 20,000 votes ahead of the last skill polled; Sailing.
Of course this is the first skill proposed after Mobile launch that let OSRS see a boost in player numbers, so a rise in the number of votes is to be expected. Nevertheless seeing this kind of turnout is awesome, and I hope a healthy sign for player involvement in the future of the game.
At this point I don't think anyone can say comfortably whether or not Warding will pass or fail. Whatever the case may be, hopefully we won't have to wait another 4 years for the next skill proposal from Jagex.
