Will the leaves be tradeable? The benefits from making the teas seem to be quite good.
Increased Clue drop chance from monsters and skilling.
Chance to save Ranged ammo and Magic Runes.
Boosted minigame reward points.
Boosted Slayer Points and superior monster spawn chance.
Yes, the leaves will be tradeable :)
Ah yes, so 1+1 boosting in TOA, kit boosting, someone doing solo cox while you afk in the lobby for CAs, that's all good for the game.
But if you kill friends to unlock items, you're getting banned.
Can you please comment on this? u/JagexSarnie
The biggest problem with Bounty Hunter Boosting is that it doesn't just affect that player but impacts everyone's experience playing BH. I wouldn't use 'good for the game' as the correct choice and I think there are still a lot of grey areas across the game that should be looked at, but for now, I think this is healthy for the game and the activity itself.
Today's update also sees a never-before-seen change: we have added some new overhead chat effects for the first time ever!
Such as??
There's more information below, the changelog is to give a nice overview :)
I'm hoping these tea boosts don't make it to the final stage. I think Forestry, as a concept, is great. The idea that people are encouraged to chop the same tree rather than separate trees will be especially exciting for certain areas (like the teak trees south of Castle Wars), where you used to ave to hop worlds until you found one empty.
The teas, in my opinion, are a great idea that seem to be going in the wrong direction. Slayer points/superior monster, increased clue scroll, mini game points boosts are all from the CAs already, why double them? The chance to save arrows and runes are cool, but Ava's exists, so why not introduce a ammo-slot item for mages that has a chance to save runes (offering the tradeoff between more prayer and saving money).
Instead, could the teas go in a different direction? A chance for more bird nests OR an extra log with the exp (like Varrock Armor)? Maybe something like a scaled-down version of a stamina potion, i.e., energy recharge and "you won't use energy for the next 10 seconds of running". Small QoL for lower-leveled accounts but not necessary to use past a certain point?
Could leaves instead be added to Herblore, or Cooking? A way to "season" food? Or, if a fire is made with leaves, could food cooked on that fire give a slight buff/could food have a reduced chance of burning (returning OSRS to the days of fishing and cooking instead of fishing and dropping)?
As someone who has high hopes for the teas, and already likes the niche use it has in Construction, I hope they find a home in the main game, but I really hope it's not as some random boost. There are so many ways for the tea/leaves to fit into the game, as generic boosts [already achieved through CAs] seems like the wrong move.
Appreciate the feedback on the teas and the boosts they are giving. This is exactly why we thought a Beta is necessary and if things need to change, then we're open to that.
I'd only ask that you jump into the Beta on Monday and test out all the content and if you still feel the same way then let us know!
pathing is f**ked up somehow when trying to move diagonally 2 squares it isn't doing it properly in some directions /u/JagexSarnie
Appreciate the flag, we're currently taking a look.
The tea's boosting production and gathering stats is more than enough. If it's a guaranteed boost thats 3 or more it'll be used, especially the gathering ones.
Those 4 other effects will either be so short/hard to use that no one will use them or they'll be so good/easy to use that everyone will. This leads to the issue: they'll either be useless or required, which makes doing content without them feel worse.
I like the intention behind them, but I don't think that's the right direction for the teas and I don't believe that's what was polled.
If clue rates, magic/ranged ammo usage, slayer superiors and points and minigame reward points are that big of an issue, then they should be improved separately. Clues already get boosted from Combat Diaries. Ranged ammo is cheap with Avas. Runes for magic are at the lowest cost they've ever been at. Extra superiors and points is nice I guess but I'd rather see a new slayer master or new superiors. More minigame reward points? What minigames? Why not just buff the minigames if the points aren't at a rate the team is happy with.
Reading through this thread, I can't find a single person excited for these tea effects
Cheers fam for the overview! I'm already in talks with the team behind Forestry about the sentiment shared in this thread and is exactly the reason for the Beta!
