[2020] Help! Character Disappeared?

Played this game a long time ago and was sure I had a character linked to my Email, however upon logging in I had to create a new character (not the issue). I played for around 2 Hours, logged out, logged back a little while later and i'm back on Tutorial island creating a new character! Am I missing something here? What happened?
