The recent sailing video mentioning requiring a crew of friends to use specific vessels...

...this SCREAMS "The meta to train this will be having friends"

The combat achievements REQUIRING group play, at the back-end of a multi-thousand-hour account grind, was already probably the most divisive game design decision Jagex has ever made since OSRS' inception

STOP doing this bro. The foundation of the entire runescape sandbox is built on solo content, your entire account-front-to-back (except for a fighter torso) is 1000000%all the way to max playable 100% by yourself

PLEASE, stop adding little footnotes here and there that require other players. This is a stupendously frustrating game design decision to throw in people's face who have otherwise completed the entirety of Runescape solo. If you wanted to decide that "Oh Old School Runescape's future meta for everything will be group-oriented and you need friends to do stuff" you should've made that decision in 2013, not in 2023 when the game is now deeply established with things such as Ironman mode, a staple MMO gamemode that YOUR company put into effect, that is literally predicated on "Standing alone" in a full-single player mode inside of your MMO

Seriously bro, stop putting group requirements on things, especially major foundational pillars of old school runescape..like a skill, or combat diaries which are now the pinnacle end game grind for maxed players. It's bullsh*t to tell someone to "buddy up" after 300 days played like hahahaha are you serious

Hi, sorry if this isn't clearer in the blog. The intention from our side is that solo play will be possible if you'd rather a crew of NPCs instead of real people. This bit was mentioned as an FAQ in the blog:

"We'd like to make it possible for NPCs to navigate boats or be part of your crew so that players who do not want to engage in group play don't have to.

Group play should be a positive player choice and not something you're forced into for training the skill. So, we remain aware that locking the best training methods behind group play will not be received positively."
