These changes look great. A question regarding the special attack of the collosal blade, when used against an enemy of size 5x5, is the size in the formula 5 or 5*5?
It'll be the value of 5, so:
(Max Hit + (2 x 5))
Edit: Would of helped if I put the actual example lol.
I'm not sure if I missed something, but what is "an extra bit of completion" supposed to mean?
It'll essentially make it a bit quicker to finish blades. :)
What level requirement do we need for the highest alloy? Or as long as we have the proper bars we can do it?
Highest metal you can put into the crucible is Rune, so 85 smithing :)
This entire process start to finish with Giants' foundry really shows how good our Devs are. You don't get community interaction like this with other games.

The posts says you can use items you have created instead of bars but you will destroy some of the material in the process. How will this work for items that only take 1 bar to make?
You can't put it into the crucible, to put it bluntly.
Like the special attack on the Colossal Blade and supportive of the increased xp rates. 28 bars a blade seems... A lot. I'm hoping they'll accept banknotes, or there will be a bank chest there?
There's a bank chest 3 tiles away from the crucible!
Mini game looks great π thank you for listening
Personally not a fan of the moulds if they end up on the collection log. I donβt want to be forced to obtain them for completionist sake
Preform moulds are contained to the Giants Foundry itself, we're only adding the buyable items like outfit, ammo mould (not preform moulds), etc. to the collection log.
Would it be possible to allow items of 1 bar but you need multiples of two of them? I.e. you would have to put in two rune daggers, and any odd ones would remain in your inventory.
Would that mean you could also put nails in as well? Or any stackable item? It'd boil the game down to having 2 stacks of a smithable item which isn't what we intended.
Why does the new outfit have gloves instead of headgear? This would prevent the need to combine ice gloves, as well.
We're thinking it leaves a nice slot for a future update to allow you to combine them with Goldsmith Gauntlets if we'd like to...
"We've increased the number of bars needed to create a sword from 20 to 28"
Just reads as: "We hate Ultimate Ironmen and want them to know this."
There is a bank chest close by, you don't need to put all 28 bars in at once aaaaaaand you can un-note bars on the chest :)
Would have*
I've been outplayed by everyone, including myself π
is this instanced, or can you drop your plates and stuff in and leave them there? sort of like how blast furnace remembers your ore on the belt etc?
The Foundry is not instanced, but you can drop stuff into the crucible and it'll melt it down for you and stay there till its poured into a sword.
Will there be a teleport available to the foundry? Not sure how UIM will be meant to use the foundry if we can't make bars and get them there in a (somewhat) reasonable timeframe. Alternatively, will there be ore nodes in or near the foundry? @JagexSarnie
It's atop the Desert plateau east of Al-Kharid, though its not technically a mini-game but it'll have a mini-game teleport.
Can we forsake xp rates to go perfect swords and maintain gp rate?
Does heating them back up reduce quality?
Why can we fail outright instead of just melting the whole thing right back down to restart?Basically, I want to know if this can be played in a semi-afk fashion for slower rewards, or if it's going to be Artisan's workshop all over again.
u/JagexOasis u/jagexsarnie can make the blacksmith outfit work with smelting at a furnace too?
I see smithing in two halves, Smelting (Blast Furnace, Furnaces) and actual smithing, we wanted something to help the actual smithing side so that's why it only buffs anvil smithing and the Foundry
