So first I want to say I know that some of you may not give a sh*t about people complaining about legendary weapons that you have not been able to obtain. Weather you have farmed for hours and received nothing or you are just playing this demo as a demo and dont care, I understand. This is not me complaining so much as it is me raising an issue with a system that drew me, and others, to the game. What if you farmed for 3+ hours to get an amazing looking legendary weapon that ends up not working as intended?

The weapon and armor mods in this game are awesome, they completely change the way you play, make you much stronger, and giving you a wide diversity of builds. Additionally, we dont even have crafting currently in game, so all of this is only going to multiplied ten fold once the full game is launched.

Part of the reason this system is so enticing is that you can dismantle legendaries and gain their mods, allowing you to craft these mods onto other weapons/armor. This allows for some great build diversity, creating extremely strong epic gear or essentially combining two legendary items.

This is where my problem starts.

I have been farming and testing legendary weapons like crazy. So far they are all very unique, beautiful, and satisfying to use when they are utilized properly. Most of the tier 3 mods work without any issue, most being the keyword. Lets start with the legendary SMG "The Migraine".

This has to be one of the best looking weapons I have ever seen in a game. Its tier 3 weapon mod "Ultimate Bleeding Bullets" works without any issue, every shot landed on an enemy causes them to gain the "bleeding" status effect. This alone is very strong as it is a 100% chance and once the game launches and we get more skills unlocked on the Devastator, like Impale, it will be a weapon, or at least a mod, that never leaves my inventory. The problem with this gun is its second, tier 2 mod "Bomb's Ahead" which states "Killing shots turn enemies into an Anomaly bomb dealing 153 damage. Cooldown of 3 seconds"

I know this weapon is called "The Migraine" and the mod is called "Bomb's *Ahead*", but nowhere on the weapon does it mention headshots or critical shots, let alone precision kills, to proc this mod's effect. I have been testing this weapon for the better part of 3 hours and I can say I have seen this mod proc maybe 5 times. SMGs are inherently inaccurate when compared to other weapon types but you can see the enemies heads literally explode when you get a headshot kill. I play with controller but I have switched to MnK for some testing and it MAY have helped me proc the mod one additional time. I have slowed enemies with other means and lasered their heads, or peppered their heads one bullet at a time to ensure a headshot kill, and it almost never procs. I will see ONLY yellow number, signifying critical hits, and then watch the enemies head explode, and still nothing happens.

This is very disappointing because this weapon has a base firepower that is much higher than any other SMG I have found so far, it is even higher than almost every other weapon I have found so far. With the bleeding effect and my main being a devastator, I want to love this weapon so much. It was almost made for me. If this mod was usable it would be so amazing because the times it has activated it will kill every surrounding enemy, but it seems like it is either broken, bugged, or meant to be dismantled and applied to other, more accurate weapons.

Time to move onto the "Grim Marrow" LMG. Another weapon that I can say is one of the best looking I have ever seen in a video game, hands down. Another weapon that is not functioning properly.

This time it is slightly different, the tier 2 mod "Improved Stiffening" works completely fine. Shots inflict slow on enemies with a cooldown of 4 seconds. No issues here, I am slowing my enemies whenever I please and this is very strong and satisfying. It also helps with weapon testing. It is when we get to the tier 3 mod that we start to have problems.

The tier 3 mods on the Grim Marrow is called "Singularity" and it states "Killing shots create an Anomaly singularity. When destroyed, the singularity explodes dealing 456 damage to enemies within a 6.5 meter radius."

I have also been testing this weapon along side "The Migraine" but I have only seen this mod activate 2 times after 3 hours. Two times. I shoot the enemy, they are slowed, I kill them with the LMG, nothing. I kill them with another weapon while they are slowed, nothing. I kill them with an ability while the LMG is in my hands, nothing. I get them low health, apply bleed, switch to the Grim Marrow, shoot them to apply the slow effect and let them die from the damage over time from bleed. Nothing. The two times I have seen this mod activate have been seemingly random occurrences. One being from the LMG itself and one being from switching to another weapon to finish them off.

This is very disappointing and frustrating because this weapon has the potential to be extremely powerful and useful. Slowing enemies as any other class than a trickster is amazing but when the legendary mod on a legendary weapon is not working properly it is very unenjoyable. I can only imagine the strength this weapon would have when the AOE explosions are working as described. I have made a tweet reaching out to PCF and the Outriders twitter but I have yet to receive a response.

I really hope that I can get some sort of response or some explanation from PCF or one of the devs as this is a bit of a bummer. I know that this is the demo and not everyone has had the luck that I have had, but what if you farmed for 3 hours to get a legendary weapon that did not work? It would feel pretty sh*tty.

I love this game so far and I will keep playing but I just want some acknowledgment on this issue from a dev or something. Is there some sort of other criteria for activating these mods that I don't know about or that isn't stated in the description? Do these mods only have a very low chance of activating? Is my game bugged? Is there a bug in general regarding these weapons/mods? I have restarted my game many times, save quit, completely restarted my computer but noting seems to help, so I do not think it is me. Additionally, the other legendaries I have had the luck of obtaining are working completely fine.

I hope that someone from PCF can see this and look into it and hopefully give some feedback, I would hate for some poor soul to farm for 4 hours for a weapon that doesn't work as intended. Sorry for the novel.

Thank you we'll take a look. One thing to have in mind with mods that trigger on "killing shot" is that they need to be on killing shot from the weapon itself, not from the skill, not from the bleed or other status, it has to be bullet from the weapon that kills the enemy. It is less of a problem on higher levels or with high alpha weapons but here the bleed effect may be kill stealing and preventing second mod from triggering so we will take a look at the migraine specifically and see if another mod will be better fit for the second slot.

Thank you! I actually posted a video to youtube that has some footage showing both weapons mentioned here. I have a lot more footage of both of the weapons, I know for sure that the Grim Marrow has something wrong as it straight up will not proc but for the Migraine it is a little harder to tell what is going on. I will get headshot kill after headshot kill and nothing will happen but then once in a blue moon it will actually proc.

As a Dev main the possibility of loosing ultimate bleeding saddens me but I want the gun to work properly lol.

Most likely we'll move the tier 2 mod bombs ahead, replace it with something more likely to trigger. I've already shared you post so we'll look at it tomorrow.
