[2019] Instant buy for me if there was gamepad support

Well what do you know. We do (albeit only partial) have gamepad control.

Right now, you can basically move and fight in Pagan Online with your gamepad; what we don't quite have down (which is why it isn't listed as an active feature) is the interaction part. Things like gathering loot or crafting will still require you to use your mouse.

We plan to get that feature complete in a future patch, but in the meantime, don't hesitate to give combat a try!

By the way, an amazing member of our Community has actually come up with a way to kick full gamepad support into working!
