...there is no way to store/unlock equipment appearances permanently. What that means is that you need both the base item and the Transmog item present in your Inventory, so when you sell your junk Gear, as you periodically do, you'll also lose the ability to Transmog since all your templates will be gone.

This obviously leads to some serious logistics problems because no one in their right mind will carry around, or store in a chest, a single copy of every possible Gear piece to have it available as a template for the Transmog system.

As it stands it's just far more practical to use the Visual Adjustments 2 mod instead, which is quite unfortunate. Hopefully Owlcat will add some sort system to permanently store the appearances of the Equipment pieces you've already picked up or used.

Sounds like a bug, it shouldn't be required to keep the items. We'll investigate.

Well that's good news, I thought it was intended this way. Glad to hear I was wrong and this is just a bug.

Update: I misread your post a bit, thought you'd lose the appearance when deleting the item or keeping it in the chest. That's not the case apparently, so far yes, you need to keep a copy of the gear you want to have an appearance of, to reforge it when you need to replace a piece of gear.

This is the first feedback of such sort regardless, we'll discuss it.

That is a... huge disappointment.

Just have us unlock a catalogue of appearances as we find items, and we have all the choice in the world what we want or might not want to use. Problem solved.

Honestly: I think there is a reason the Big Ones doing it this way. I bet Ubisoft has invested a lot of money to research how they want transmog to work in their big titles. Assassins' Creed does it pretty well. You find it, you can use it. I think that is even how the absolute majority of those systems work.

In a game that is already very item-heavy, adding the requirement to not only keep track of the items you want to use, especially for people who also want ti micromanage when they wear what, but you also need to track and keep those that you think are not helpful for your current party, but might want to use the appearance off, does not sound like a very userfriendly approach.

Right now I'd rather just keep the Visual Adjustments mod around.

Like I said, it will be discussed. Feedback like this is important, thanks for the input!

Are there plans to allow us to Hide Cloaks?

They're the most annoying part of transmog right now, and we've never been able to hide them.

Yet to be discussed when the more critical issues are dealt with. I rate the chances as high though. It's clearly a highly anticipated feature.
