After finishing WotR for the first time, I can't help but feel like Finnean was extremely underutilized as a (pseudo-)companion. Upon picking him up in Kenebras and seeing that he had has own custom portrait as well as a dedicated inventory button, I expected for him to be way more relevant than he ended up being.

To my surprise, aside from the few rare times where he randomly chimed in during my conversations with other characters, he was virtually absent from the game up until his one major quest in Act 5. I even made an effort to check in with him every couple of hours, but there never seemed to be any additional dialogue options. As a result of these reasons, despite him having been in my party(inventory) for nearly the entire game, I felt almost no connection to him by the time I was doing his Act 5 quest.

What do you all think? I personally think giving Finnean another quest in Act 3/4 as well as adding some more meaningful interactions with him would really go a long towards fleshing him out as a character.

Large part of this problem was that his camp banter was bugged and didn't play until one of the recent patches :( That indeed made him less alive than intended.

Yep. And it wasn't working properly until recently.
