[2020] Why are Talisman drops still part of the game?

Even the best rare talisman can't compete against an average amulet with an anointment.

I understand the Jorgin crafting table gamble but regular rare talismans that drop are always immediately vendored. Am I missing something here? Whenever I see the Talisman pop up during a delirium I get so so sad.
