In what way? If I'm in a map and someone else opens a new map and I was to die, are all my other portals just gone or can I still see my portals?
You can still see your portals.
So if I'm in my guilds hideout but not in the same group as some other guild members and open a map, I can use it as normal and so can other guild members without closing anyone else's portals?
Correct
Does this mean you cannot share portals? Or do portals show up when you are in a party?
You could, for example, have six people in a party using the map device together. Then simultaneously an individual could use the same device to run their own maps.
How can a second person who still has (expiring) map portals open join the map of a guildmate in the same instance?
Join their party.
Some clarifications about the guild hideout map device:
It can open multiple sets of portals simultaneously. Guild hideout shards can have up to 32 players at once so the map device can have 32 simultaneous sets of portals.
It is not possible for another player to cause you to lose portals.
By default (no party), you only see your own portals. All other portals are invisible.
In a party, you only see your Party Leader's portals. If the Leader has no portals, then no portals are visible. This prevents unexpectedly switching which portals are visible.
The Party Leader is the player who sent the initial invite, or who created the public party.
The Party Leader can promote someone else to become the new Party Leader, which also changes which portals are visible to the party.
The Party Leader's name is displayed above the portals, similar to town portals.
If you join a party and are not the Leader, any portals you had open will become invisible. Leaving the party will make them visible again.
The "disallow party members using my portals" option still works, and you can now change it directly from the Party UI.
If you open portals in your guild hideout, portals will also open in your personal hideout, so that party members who are not in your guild can still join your map. Portals will close and be synchronized between guild hideout and personal hideout to maintain the 6 portal limit.
Similarly, if you open portals in your personal hideout and you are the Party Leader, then the portals will be visible to party members in your guild hideout.
You can switch between your guild hideout and personal hideout and see your portals in both.
Personal hideouts only create portals for the hideout owner.
The overall goal is for the system to be flexible and convenient, and that your guild hideout is at least as good as your personal hideout for mapping i.e. you cannot open portals in the "wrong" place.
In order to support synchronized portals between guild hideout and personal hideout, we have made tech changes to track your most recently opened map. This means that portals can now outlive hideouts, or in other words, if your hideout instance closes (or crashes), your portals are no longer lost. Whenever you enter your personal hideout or your guild hideout, it checks if you have any remaining portals still open, and recreates them as needed.
Parties can use map portals in both personal hideout and guild hideout simultaneously and the game will synchronize portal usage.
You cannot fail to join a map because someone else used that same specific portal, but the overall 6 portal limit is still enforced.
So long as you are in your personal hideout or your guild hideout, your map portals will never expire (similar to before).
Failing to join a map, e.g. due to a client crash or disconnect, no longer consumes a portal if you didn't actually enter the area (i.e. triggered the "Player has joined the area" notification).
If the map instance itself is gone (crashed or expired) all portals will close.
If the hideout instance closes (or crashes), a new hideout instance will be created for you as needed, with the correct number of remaining portals. This means you won't lose portals due to a crash in the hideout, nor can you be trapped in an orphaned map, unable to portal out.
You can enter map portals from either your personal hideout or guild hideout. When leaving the map, you will return to the hideout you came from (personal or guild).
You can use /guild
to go your guild hideout (or use the waypoint screen).
What if i invite someone to trade and that person is not guild member? Do i have to leave the guild hideout and enter my own hideout or will be the guy able to enter our guild hideout ?
Only guild members are allowed to enter their guild hideout, so for trade you would need to go to your personal hideout, yes.
Is it still possible for hideouts (and map instances) to be aggressively culled when there's a server-side hotfix? I'm not sure if this was ever officially discussed but it seemed like sometimes you could go to town and come back to an empty map device.
If the hideout instance closes for any reason, and the map is still alive, then a new hideout instance will recreate the portals for you.
Does that mean you can run a map, leave in the middle, then come back 2 hours later and still have the portals there?
If you spend that 2 hours in your hideout (or guild hideout) then the portals will stay open. Maps in general still have the usual 15 minute timeout if you are logged out, or in town, Heist, Delve, etc.
Previously, if you are in your hideout with portals open, leave the hideout for any reason like trading, then come back to your hideout, the portals would not be protected from timing out any more even though you are in your hideout, and in order to get the protection back, you had to use one of the portals.
Is that still the case now, or has that changed and being in the hideout now always protects the protals from timing out without exception?
We actually did improve this! When you leave your hideout it now resets the map timeout, so this doesn't happen.
Will player collision exist in guild hideouts? I imagine it will be a pain to access stashes/map devices if you are bumping into 30 other players
No player collisions, similar to towns
Personal hideouts only create portals for the hideout owner.
WAIT
this is a nerf? or wrong ?Does it mean you can no longer teamup with someone who is not in your guild?
This is not a change. Personal hideouts have always worked this way. Only the hideout owner can use their personal map device.
If you are in a party, and want to take turns opening maps, then you need to visit each player's hideout in turn. Same as in 3.15.
can we please please please get the guild hideout rolled out earlier? would love to start decorating and setting up guild hideouts so me and my guildies can get back to playing solo but in a shared hideout for scourge
You can import all the same hideout templates into your guild hideout. So you could decorate your desired hideout tileset(s) in advance, if you want, in preparation for 3.16.0.
Of course, it will be much easier to decorate after 3.16.0 launches, since non-MTX hideout decorations will all become free and unlimited, when we remove the favour system. (Note that 750 decoration limit will still apply).
Can we please have a /ghideout or similar command so that we can continue using a macro to go back to hideout (i.e. F5 in all Poe trade tools I'm aware of) if we choose to use the guild hideout as our main one?
You can use /guild
to go to your guild hideout.
Rhys, will there be Guild hideouts which are larger in size?
Or can we only pick from the hideouts currently available.
Can't find any info on this.
For now, just the ones currently available. Some of these are larger than others.
Is this the end of hideout crashes causing you to lose the map? As long as you go back to your hideout quickly after relogging, you'll have portals?
For what it's worth, I haven't experienced a hideout crash for a while, so I'm not sure what the current behaviour is.

Yes and yes!
Are the hideouts you unlock by finding them in game (such as killing shaper) available as guild hideouts? And if so is it based on the guild leaders available hideouts?
Only the Guild Leader can set or swap the guild hideout tileset. The Leader can select any non-MTX hideout he has unlocked on his account, or any MTX hideout purchased for the guild.
So yes, if the Guild Leader has personally unlocked the Celestial Hideout, then he can set it for the whole guild.
Do guild hideouts work across leagues? Not joining portals obviously, but seeing people from your guild
They are not cross-league. Each league has its own guild hideout shards.
Will multiple people playing SSF in the same league (e.g Scourge Softcore SSF) be able to share a guild hideout and see each other? Obviously guild stash wouldnt be there or anything but it would be nice to see fellow SSF guildys running around.
I'm currently investigating SSF guild hideouts. Hopefully we can make it happen!
What about the decorations, can the leader assign someone to decorated the hideout?
Currently, only the guild leader can edit guild hideout decorations. We hope to expand this later.
In the meantime, you could organize someone to design the hideout layout in their personal hideout in the same tileset, then export the .hideout file and give that to the guild leader to import.
will we have to manualy buy any dacorations before now, or is it just as if i had bought like 1000 of everything and i can jsut import anything and we good?
also, when, and how, can i as a guild master buy MTX related stuff (like the fireplace) for the guild
Decorations that previously cost master favour are now free and unlimited. MTX decorations remain the same, ie you need to buy them from the shop and are limited to the number you have purchased.
The guild shop is being updated to include MTX hideout decorations, which can be purchased for your guild by the guild master.
Make sure to fix Animate Guardian dropping items in hideout or else SSF players in a shared guild may be able to transfer items.
Indeed.
Any news on this?
SSF Guild hideouts work as of 3.16.0
