Hey all, we're getting fairly close to Exilecon. Close enough in fact, that people are locking in plans for everything from travel itineraries to bar crawls!

With so many international travels combined with the frankly awesome setting we've already seen plenty of people planning in and around the days of Exilecon. So if you have any travel tips, events, or other plans you'd like to mention and/or share with anyone heading to the convention do so here!

If you haven't gotten around to planning just yet, stick around at this thread or head over to the Exilecon info page to get started.

Note: If you're like me and can't make it to Exilecon (I'm not jealous or anything...T_T) GGG will be streaming highlights free online. Just to confirm.

quick shout out to /u/sirgog for the thread idea!

Any one up to drive over to Henderson after the con ends on Saturday to have dinner at King Shaka’s? It was one recommendation from the 1st Lunch Eat Flavour episode from Front Seat Gamer. This is the place: https://goo.gl/maps/RtpzPfSm37QMhw9E6

Edit: to organize ourselves, pls join the room #kingshakas on this discord server: https://discord.gg/DJW3QbP

Definitely recommend checking this place out. A lot of us from the office are frequent visitors to Shaka's!

What’s the recommended means of getting there from the convention center? Google says some bus lines (~50mins) - can we trust Google on this one?

Busses will work, but the train is likely to be easier than busses, particularly for people unfamiliar with the city. Short walk down Queen street to the station, catch the western line train, get out at Henderson station and Shaka's is just across the road.

If you’re in Auckland looking for places to get food, I got a compiled list of places from GGG people who have an idea about food. You can find it here.

Never been to NZ before, what is the staple food there? Like something you tell visitors to make sure to try at least once.

Fish and chips I guess! Grab some Whittaker’s chocolate for desert.
