Lol that's my character name on our testing server.
LEGION. BEX HOW DARE YOU LEAD US DOWN THE WRONG PATH
Jesus Christ, Kamil.
he improves from Trailer to Trailer. How does he do that? I thought he peaked at bestiary. I loved his Synthesis Soundtrack.
But this?
This is a f**king masterpiece
I totally agree! The soundtrack for the trailer gave me chills the first time I heard it.
Well played Bex
Legion
We were so close
I think this was the second most popular guess! The community is cunning.
How would divine vessels fit into the 5 slot device? Unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be a spot for them.
They're one slot now
Is this a good time to start playing this game for the first time ever? Been looking into it for a while, just never had time to start up a character.
Yeah! Now is a great time to start. If you jump in and learn the ropes, you'll be all ready for when Path of Exile: Legion launches in a couple of weeks.
Oh what the f**k. So that 5173 in the jewel description is the seed, not a kill counter. I can't imagine Openarl's face when this was decided. It sounds like Watcher's Eyes on crack.
It's great having him working in the office now because I can see his face when he finds out about stuff like this :P
We'll likely have the seeds datamined within days of the patch dropping so we'll be able to pretty quickly figure out which ones are worth anything.
You don't need to datamine the seeds, the seed is literally displayed on the jewel. It's the number (technically a unique identifier hash for passive affected is also used, but those already exist and have been datamined - that's just how passives are identified by the game).
That doesn't tell you what a given jewel will do unless you know the algorithm that uses that seed, which is not mineable data, but code.
Synthesis supporter pack are gone?? :( I was gonna buy them this Thursday once my credit card renewed feelsbadman
Please email customer support and they should be able to help with this - [email protected]
Each Legion will have its own Historic jewel attached to it. You can only wear one. The Vaal jewel 'corrupts' passives in it's radius, changing them. The number on the Vaal jewel you mentioned is its seed number. Any jewel with that same number will have the same corruption result on the nodes it affects. It can even change keystones!
The Vaal jewel 'corrupts' passives in it's radius, changing them.
This is not quite true. Each of the jewels will "Conquer" passive skills in it's radius (which is a fancy term meaning "these have been changed by this jewel, and no other jewels can change them further" - this has reminder text). Each legion's jewel conquers things in a slightly different way (makes different kinds of changes), but they're all considered Conquering, not Corrupting.
The original plan for this mechanic came from the idea of "corrupting" the tree and was vaal-specific, but since we used it here in Legion league where it had to make sense with all 5 factions, we used a different term, and will thus keep the "corrupted" terminology free (in the context of passives) in case we want to use it for some different mechanic in the future.
This is going a bit too far. The item should say what it does.
Not knowing what it does until you slot it in, or needing to know an algorithm that uses a stated seed is a bit too much, especially if it's over 5000 different seeds for 5 different items...
There is not room on the screen for the item to give details of how it would change each possible passive while still having the font in a reasonable size.
It says what it does in the same way that a Vaal Orb says what it does - it tells you that it will make certain kinds of changes, it doesn't list every possible change it could make.
thought you would know best, does inner conviction have a delay or some other limiting factor to converting frenzy to power?
eg if you used inner conviction (on new volls protector) with 2 powerlessness and Tulfall?
when you gain a power charge you hit max, which converts it to a frenzy charge and back to a power charge in an infinite loop? and eg with volls devotion you gain endurance charge every cycle
how are you limiting the loop or delaying it? otherwise it would freeze the server no? (or atleast the thread that calculation runs in)
When you reach maximum power charges, two things need to happen. The "gain a frenzy charge" will happen just before the "lose all power charges", so what will happen with Inner Conviction is that you'll gain a power charge while still at maximum, then lose them all.

So, ah, Bex, how about links to the media coverage?
Will it be possible use Divine Orbs to change the numerical value and therefore the seed and effect that the jewel will have on the passive tree ?
I think those jewels will be a nightmare to trade since we will probably only be able to filter for the number or the uniq name. And just by looking at the item from the trade site item or even ingame in the trade window will not allow you to know its exact effects. If you get the jewel you can just play around and test it on different locations, but how would I know in advance whether or not its worth getting one without being able to test it ?
I can already see some build guides telling you to use the jewel with the number being one out of a list of 8-10 numbers/seeds since these will have more or less the desired effect.

Yes, this is a mod value, and thus divineable.
Can you give any insight into how the drop seed will affect the outcome of the conquering? Like will it be numeric changes to the nodes' values or will it change the nodes entirely within certain thresholds?
This is so far my most anticipated change/mechanic of the entire expansion; whoever came up with it—I will love you forever!

I could but I won't. I don't want to ruin everyone's fun speculations, and we might want to keep some of the details for future news posts or announcements or something. Each legion's jewel follows different rules for what their form of conquering does, and so far I know there's been at least two resulting nodes shown in various places from the Vaal jewel.

I came up with the base idea and how we could implement it a while back and proposed it to Hrishi who developed the plan further with me. At the time it was for a potential vaal-specific league, and was specifically just corrupting the tree. That ended up not happening, but early in legion development, Hrishi realised we could actually do it for this one, and started working out the plan for each legion being able to change the tree in their own way. We've both been really excited about getting to actually implement this mechanic and get it into the game.
and no other jewels can change them further
just to clarify, might of the meek would not work on these transformed nodes, correct?
Correct. Modifying the effect of a passive is a modification to that passive, and thus cannot be applied to a passive that's been conquered by a different jewel.
