It's been 4 days since the last post from GGG that did anything other than simply state changes made to the game. There was never any discussion between GGG and any other party about the state of the game past league launch, and afaik there is nothing planned at this time (eg. no additional baeclast appearance, etc).
Even something like "yes we know almost everyone hates Drought, it's staying in the game" would be preferable. The thing is, that kind of statement would be disastrous for the perception of the game which is why they don't make it, but in the absence of any alternatives I can't help but worry that is what they actually think right now. "Yes, we've heard you on immunities. We know we've been removing them from the game for a decade now and it has improved the experience, but now we're taking a hardline stance and aren't budging" kind of thing.
I haven't played since monday or tuesday, but I've been waiting and ready to come back once I actually have some assurance on what the direction of the game will be in the future. If they are going to insist on having things like Bonechill and Hypothermia, where a large portion of damage is dependent on being able to chill the enemy, but also having random magics and rares be not only immune to chill but also have massive cold res and max cold res bonuses, then I might not ever come back and play the way I have in the past.
The character build options just aren't made to support diversifying damage in the vast majority of build types, so the idea behind immunities that the Sanctum Breach dev has, which is to use them to encourage diversifying your build, is moot. The result is that it seems like GGG wants you to just ignore some percentage of the mobs that spawn in a map, which if it were even possible to do would still be annoying for multiple reasons (not least of which is the change to the connected map drop nodes). The reality, however, is that there are also mods that can make a monster stick to you like bugs stick to Sirus, so you sometimes just can't avoid confronting them, which is obviously not fun.
To borrow an analogy from Bellular's complaints about WoW, it's the dick in the salad.
