So I know we don't have any information on it yet, but does anyone know if any good hybrid es attack builds? I was thinking Inquisitor could be nice, but I'm at a lose for what skill to use with it

Edit: apparently it has spell and lightning tags, potential use of empower /enhance depending on the quality bonus

Edit2:Another thing to consider is, what is the attack speed of the swords? Is it based off your existing weapons? Gotta make them fast or there is a unique sword that does the same deal without sacrificing ES

Do we think battlemage will add the lightning damage gained to spells?

edit: My understanding of battlemage is that it takes the damage from your weapon in your inventory (like everthing at the top of the info sheet when you hover over your item) and adds it to spells. Energy Blades says it "transforms" your weapon into something else, so its possible that it works like we would want it to work. Might just have to wait to test in game.

While you're wielding the Energy Blades, they are your equipped weapons, so their damage values are what will be used for things like Battlemage.

I have some questions about its mechanics (I know noone really knows for sure, but curious how others think it will work):

You gain base lightning dmg based on 5%/100% of your energy shield. What does "Energy shield" here mean exactly? I see three possibilities: Current energy shield, current maximum energy shield, and maximum energy shield upon activation. By an example: Say you have 5k es, activate the skill (80% less ES), and take a hit of 500 dmg. Would the dmg gained then be based off the ES value being 500, 1000 or 5000?

Another one is since your weapons are transformed, does it matter what weapon you are using before activating the skill (other than it being 1h or 2h)? For example terminus est has the global mod to gain frenzy charge on hit, will this be disabled? (Yes i want to play energy blade flicker :D)

Also as OP mentioned, what is base attackspeed/crit? Or will this again be based on pre-transform weapons?

"% of Energy Shield" (or Life, or Mana) always means % of the maximum value. Effects that check a % of the current value will explicitly specify that behavior. The implicit lightning damage mod on the blade has values based on your maximum energy shield, and does not snapshot.

The Blades have the same sockets and links as before activating the skills, but are a different base type with different mods.

Lol I still can't tell if it accounts after the 80% less portion is applied or not 😅

I specified it does not snapshot. It's based on your maximum energy shield, not on what your maximum energy shield used to be.

Question about it not snap shotting, does that mean the weapon's damage will adjust without a recast if you get additional ES from some source (shrine, headhunter stolen mod, support character aura, etc) or will you need to recast it for the weapon numbers to update?

And if it requires a recast does that mean you'll keep the recasts boosted numbers even after the buffs wear off?

Yes
