So this time around the guy who pulled the bastion crashed and somebody else was made captain, this had 4 peculiar side effects:
1) The new captain wasn't getting kill credit
2) The old captain was getting kills, even while offline and after having relogged twice
3) We were lacking the front upper side hardpoint, so presumably we were invincible
4) You couldn't exit the bastion, you were always "2nd in queue" and then get removed from queue because you're "too far away from the vehicle pad".
