I know it can be frustrating joining a match in progress, especially if you get into one where the team is down 0-2. The reason why you're probably seeing so many is due to players leaving due to being kicked, rage quitting, or leaving because they don't want to play on the map that popped up in the queue.
At any rate, I plan on letting the dev team know this weekend of the increase in players joining ongoing matches. It seems some players would be interested in having a way to opt-in/out of them since some players see the benefits of playing games under pressure. Whare are your thoughts on that?
