I know whats in the canister
So I am an up and coming chemestry student and I might know whats in the canister. Recentley I had a class about acids and I learnt that HNO3 can create either NO or NO2 which also can be called NOx (NOX). This chemical is very dangerous. Since I'm Swedish almost all my resaerch has been done in Swedish. On the Swedish website naturvårdsverket you can read that NOx gas causes irritation in the lung mucus and the airway. In the SAS trailer for R6 you can see when smoke uses his canister on a terrorist. The terrorist bends down and it looks as if he coughs and of course that is something that you automatically do when your airways and mucus membranes get irritated. If I remember correctly when you use a canister in game the enemy starts to cough (I just went in terrorist hunt to check this out and they cough when you use the canister on the enemy). On the website Hyperdrive you can also read that NOx gas has the color orangebrown which if you look in game on the gas it has the colour that Nox gas has (now the colour is yellow but atleast in the older version the gas is orangebrown). So far smoke gas canisters and NOx gas are very simillar.
I have seen a few vidoes stating that the gas smoke used is actually called cyclopentadiene. I would like to dispute this statement. When I read on Wikipedia about this chemical I read that this chemical hasnt been isolatedly experimented. I couldnt either find any hint to what colour this chemical has. I couldnt either find any health risks but just now I watched a video by Jägerhimself (I will link the video) where a chemestry student found that Smoke has a symbol on his back and arm which is the chemical called cyclopentadiene. This chemestry student then wrote to Jägerhimself and told him that he found facts about this chemical stating that it causes skin raches and irritation to the eyes. However this doesnt explain why in game the terrorists start to cough which they do when you use Smokes canister. Which makes me belive that it cant be the right chemical. I also read on wikipedia that the boling point for cyclopentadiene is 39 degrees celcius and normal room tempature is around 22 degree celscius. This would inicate that cyclopentadiene shouldnt be in gas form if we assume that its not 39 degrees celcius in game.
You may now think that since smoke has the chemical on his back it must be correct. However, if we look at the trailer for Smoke we can hear Smoke say that if he ever tells you whats in the canister he then has to kill you, and I doubt Smoke would print it on his clothes when he is so serious about the real chemical in the canister. My theorey is that Smoke put it on his back to make us think its the chemical cyclopentadiene but in fact he just wants to misguide us.
So in conclusion NOx gas is probally the gas thats in the canister.
