Do you have a clip of this? It is possible you were being shot at while you were getting hit with the impact.

A replay feature would be good in cases like this to get a better understanding of how you died. The only thing I could think of is you being hit by something else at the same time to lower your HP and then getting hit with the impact shortly after.
