Absolutely correct! The best way to approach them is to report them with the in-game button, mute them and absolutely do not retaliate. Most players who behave this way are just fishing for a reaction, so it is better not to give into it. I'm sorry for your negative experience, and can assure you there are some solid friendly players in the community!
