I tried to launch Rainbow Six Siege about 10 minutes ago, and it told me I needed an activation code or cd key. I was on the game about an hour prior to this happening so I don't know why I need this now

Can I just double-check whether you've been possibly attempting to access Test Server rather than the actual game?
If you are being asked for activation key when launching the main game instead, try verifying your game files and see whether that helps.
