Thanks for reaching out! Smurfing is a topic the team has been looking into recently. We are trying to understand the motives behind having a Smurf account to understand why players are opting for a second account.
Do you consider there to be a difference between Smurf accounts and alternate accounts? I personally think that alternate accounts are used for the purpose of not being recognized (mostly for Streamers or Pro Players), while Smurf accounts are to intentionally play in an Elo that is not your own.

What about players that share computers with siblings? I don't think there would be a feasible way for the system to detect that the secondary account is related to the primary account. There would be no way to have any flags that work well to determine it is a smurf account of an account that was previously used on that PC.
