The best solution to the issue listed in the OP, and also countless other issues that result from toxic players, is to give everyone a tickbox option in the in-game settings, which after they tick it, then they will not ever be matched with pre-made arranged-team players as allies on their team.
That would instantly remove the ability for organized griefing to take place, except for on victims who have somewhat-willingly signed-up to via setting their tickbox in such a way that it causes them to opt-in to being matched with pre-made arranged-team allies... even though that is a very bad idea which inevitably results in most people being victims to organized griefing (which is why the current system that the game uses is very bad, as it forces this horrible scenario upon everyone by default, and with no possible way to opt-out of it).
I'm sure this option to opt-out of ever being put onto pre-made arranged-teams would be very popular and widely-used, and it would certainly improve the game and reduce toxic griefing drastically. In fact, that should be the default option that everyone's settings are automatically set to, unless they deliberately & pro-actively choose to change it.
Please ask the devs to implement this.
Thanks for the suggestion! I've passed along the suggestion for a Solo/Team queue option previously, but don't have any info to share if that is being implemented or not.
The main problem I see is a change like this would require strict rules for Group queues. For example, 4 stacks would not be able to exist anymore since solo queue players can't pair up together. 2 stacks would have to be put with 3 stacks, which still can cause an imbalance of power since the other squad has a majority.
It would also cause matchmaking times to be skewed, especially for Group queues. What if there are not enough 2 stacks to be paired with 3 stacks?
There would also have to be two separate MMRs for Solo queueing and Group queueing, which can be a bit confusing.
I don't think it would be ideal to split the playerbase, especially since Siege is supposed to be a
team-based game so players should be playing as a whole team.
I understand the main issue solo queue players are facing is toxicity. They should be reporting these groups of players with the in-game button or through support directly with as much info as possible. I personally am just not certain having split queues would be the optimal way to resolve this issue, but thank you for sharing regardless!
