I really thought that this should go without explanation, but with the whole recent Zofia withstand "scandal", I thought I should definitely shine light on this before the changes get implemented and it's too late.

First and foremost, let me preface this by saying; I have absolutely NO problem with the Rainbow Six eSports, or any of the players, I only severely dislike the apparent extreme importance and representation they get in regards to in-game changes.

That being said, let's get started. So for those who aren't aware, a player in a pro league game, recently one a round due to Zofia's withstand ability. Zofia was downed and defuser was ticking down, but the 2 defenders alive failed to finish off Zofia before she could withstand and reposition. In consequence, he clutched up and won the round for his team. This caused an uproar in the pro league scene with people "begging" for ubisoft to remove the withstand feature because it was unfair, or some variant of that same complaint.

Now last time I saw PL players complain this hard about something, it got changed before a gamebreaking glitch got fixed. My point is, it's only the 1% of r6 players that want this change. I have over 2000 hours on this game according to steam, and I think I've only ever used zofia's ability successfully maybe 3 times? Sure I remember losing a ranked round to it once, but I never took it to twitter and complained, I sucked it up and admitted it was my fault for not finishing off zof in time. What gives PL players the right to complain about dying to an ingame mechanic that they were previously aware of and getting that entire thing gone, just because they lost 1 round?!?

Last time there was this much complaining, they get the game changed to their liking almost immediately (dust following explosion), so I thought that I'd come shed light to this issue before the devs jump the gun and pander to their BS (a little harsh, but still true). Let's get this started; Zofia's withstand ability is NOT overpowered in the slightest, in fact, Zofia as an operator is literally the definition of being the most balanced operator. Her gun isn't anything to brag about, a mediocre firerate and average damage for the AR class. The only reason people cry wolf is because every other attacker got nerfed of their higher optics leaving zofia as one of the few ops still holding a higher optic. Her gadget isn't that good and leaves her vulnerable when used offensively and her passive ability is a neat little addition that adds to lore of the game. No one before a few seasons ago even DARED to call zofia overpowered because she wasn't! To quote Matimi0: "Zofia is the literal definition of balanced in siege".

Why aren't operators allowed to be good anymore? Every other operator was nerfed, so why should this one be nerfed alongside all the others?

To return to the Zofia topic, I was browsing through BikiniBodhi's twitter he reposted a meme stating "Pro league is the worst thing to happen to siege", which is ironic considering he literally backs almost every complaint they give, simply because he joined FNATIC (my opinion). He probably did this as a whole mitch mcconnell self-preservation type move on his part (yes i made a political joke).

Lets prove to the game developers that it's the 99% of players who should dictate how the game should be functioned, not the 1% who's job it is to ADAPT to game mechanics and STRATEGIZE around the challenges presented to them.

Drop any supportive comments/disagreements in the replies, thanks for reading this far

Hey all! Just for visibility I'm taking this thread and including it in a part of my weekly report.

Absolutely! I don't know what the team on the other side of things will do with the information, but this has been a strong point that I've seen on and off since I've worked here, and I think this thread really represents the grievances very well.

And I love that I have the opportunity to take this thread back! The big thing for me is that this whole thing has been reasonable, civil discussion about how you guys feel, which is amazing. Being a player myself, I understand some of the pain points that you guys have, and it's really great to see such an articulate discussion on these things that I can take back to the team. Thank you for starting this thread and giving a space for folks to voice their grievances! I truly love to see it.

The whole point of this thread was an open complaint that the developers of Siege are making sudden and drastic changes to the game, seemingly on nothing more than the flighty whims of PL players.

Then the designer notes come out, and seemingly give complete and total validation to the OP's complaint, and to all of ours. Some PL guy loses ONE round because of Zofia's withstand ability, and suddenly withstand gets eliminated from the game completely? How is that fair to the playing community and the paying customers? This will do nothing to engender any good will from Casual players. Nor will it allay their resentment over game features suddenly being destroyed just because a couple of e-sporters got their undies in a wad after ONE match.

Have they told you anything by way of self-justification to rationalize these seeming flights of PL fancy? Have you nothing to say now?
So, I know that a lot of these changes had been in the works for a hot minute, though I can't comment (as I'm not a part of balancing conversations) on whether the Zofia change was one of those. I'm not sure if the change was coincidental with PL's complaints, because I don't believe that reprogramming Zofia in that short span of time with everything else going on in the background, but what I can try to do is reach out and seek clarity. Ultimately, though, I believe the balancing justification will come down to what they stated in the designers notes, that they don't believe withstand had a powerful effect on her in game presence.

I'm actually not sure what her melee falls under. I can see an argument for it being both a passive and just a different style of melee, but I can't say definitively what the devs categorize it as without talking to them first.

I just want to go ahead and add a small bit to this conversation: the team has been looking at removing passive/hidden mechanics from operators for awhile now, and this starts with Zofia's Withstand, and Ela losing resistance to concussion effects.

This is so that operators are defined by what they bring to the table; their gadget and their loadouts, and not a feature that has to be that are explained away by reading lore.
