[2020] Operators Based Off?

Hi!

So this may of been answered LONG ago, but I can't seem to find this online due to the new operator announcements taking over the internet at the moment. But what are the operators of the game based off of? I'm assuming since it's titled "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege" that all the operators are a mix and match of Clancy's protagonists and antagonists from his novels. Is this all true? Or is only the OG operators?

If anyone knows that would be awesome! And maybe (if they're all from novels) I can read the source material for my favorite operators.

Tom Clancy's novel "Rainbow Six" is worth a read. In this particular game, you won't find very many parallels with the book. There are however, some references to a virtual-reality training program where they can train against each other, which is similar to the premise for Multiplayer (though in the book it's only vaguely mentioned). There are also some references to a heartbeat-sensor gadget, akin to Pulse's cardiac sensor. If I recall correctly, I believe Rainbow's headquarters in the book were based at Hereford (similar to us having the Hereford base map).

Harry, our new "Six" is also very similar to a professor-ish type character that team Rainbow relies on quite heavily in the book, who uses psychology to determine the mindset of terrorists, and how best to prepare to go against them; he also provides input regarding team Rainbow itself, and how to keep everyone working smoothly together. All things considered, Harry is probably the closest resemblance to anyone in the book that you'll see. While he doesn't actually "lead" team Rainbow in the book, he is well-respected, and it's not a far stretch to imagine him in that role.
