[2019] Is it still possible to throw back grenades as a defender?

The feature was removed from the game during the beginning of Operation Para Bellum because the feature usually resulted in teamkills and accidental suicides.

Our dev team wasn't pleased with how it worked in the game, and as stated earlier, the feature led to a massive uptick in collateral damage both on teammates and whoever was holding the grenade. When you couple that with the community not really voicing interest in seeing it come back, unfortunately I don't think it will be.

Its clear the reason for so many teamkills is because of Hot potato
removing a feature because of a meme having a effect on statistics is ridiculous

It wasn't because of the meme, there were more than a few instances where the player holding the grenade would either mess up the throw back which resulted in the explosive bouncing back towards whoever threw it, or the player would accidentally throw it near a player or a player would walk into the blast radius without knowing and wouldn't have time to get away due to the grenade about to go off. There were a lot of factors that led to its removal.
