[2020] New golden title :D

Have you heard about the Mining & Smithing rework?

As much as i’d love to say this is true there’s no way we could complete and release something that fast, it’s all a happy coincidence but there’s a nice lil’ story to go with it.

We’d been working on the clues update in Ninja since the week before Lunars update and then just before the clues update was signed off in the WIP-development stage (the week before last) we wanted to add first-time broadcasts for the golden variants of the titles, we already had general world broadcasts for completing the regular titles.

Before we could do that though we had to check no one had actually met the requirements for the gold titles just yet, so Mod Erator sent a request to our Analytics & Data team. They came back with a few names of people who are close, with one of the closest for the Hard gold title being John Skynyrd here who was at the time only one item away, that being the Third Age robe top. So we went ahead and added it in, QA’d it and signed off the project that week hoping he wouldn’t obtain it between then and now. The week before release (sometime early last week) while the project was in the RC stage (release control) John Skynyrd got the final item and tweeted about it. At this point we were slightly worried we’d have to rework our code since no big changes are really allowed during RC week. We downloaded a copy of his account save to test it out and luckily the login code covered such things so all he needed to do was login and he’d obtain the broadcast. He was the only one who still qualified anyway so there were no other worries.

Queue the clue community and John Skynyrd himself asking about titles just days before release while we have to keep our mouths shut to keep the surprise. 😄
