After a March that few of us will ever forget, we're ready to begin the process of returning accounts impacted by the Login Lockout situation.

That's right, the first Returned are soon going to be walking the paths of Gielinor again, after what we know has been a stressful and uncertain few weeks for many. We can't wait to see you back in game, and we can't wait to deliver on that Awesome April of content we spoke about in last week's livestream.

WAVE UPDATES

As we mentioned last week, returning accounts is the start of a journey rather than the finish line. With our learnings from the Beta, this will be a rolling process of returning accounts. Keep this page bookmarked as we bring you all the latest updates on account return waves as we have them.

Wave 7 - Final Wave & Next Steps | 12:45 Game Time, April 9th

Hello everyone,

We are very excited to let you know that our final wave of has now released, which means that almost all affected accounts have been returned to the game. Thank you so very much for your incredible patience over the past month as we gave it all we could to restore your accounts to the highest possible quality. It's fantastic to see so many of you back in game.

However, this isn't the end of our journey. A small proportion of accounts require additional attention before we can restore them, and Aftercare will still be necessary to resolve outstanding issues for some of you.

If you're in either situation, here's what to do:

MY ACCOUNT STILL HASN'T BEEN RETURNED

If your account remains locked, the batch telemetry translation process used for other accounts hasn't been sufficient to restore your account to the highest possible quality. This means your account is going to require individual attention before it can be returned, which may take some time.

If you are in this situation, firstly, we want to apologise for the extended wait. Getting you playing again is our top priority. We will work with you on an individual basis to ensure that we more than make up for the wait, as well as covering any membership time spent. You'll also still be eligible for the care package, which includes 'The Returned' title and several other goodies.

Everyone in this situation will be notified by email, so keep an eye on your inbox. We'll also be keeping you updated throughout next week whenever we have new information to share.

SOMETHING ON MY ACCOUNT ISN'T RIGHT

Aftercare is the term we're using for the individualized support we'll be providing to players whose account still doesn't look quite right.

First, we recommend you check our Restoration FAQ for details on some of our most expected issues and the actions you can take to help resolve them. Then, head on over to our Aftercare Form to submit a ticket for anything you need us to work on.

Aftercare is an ongoing process, so if you find something a month from now that you've suddenly realised isn't right, you'll still be able to submit a ticket. Please be patient in these early stages, though - response times will vary based on volume but we're working on getting to everyone as fast as we can. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Wave 6 - 16:00 Game Time, April 8th

Hello everyone,

Wave 6 has now been released, marking our last wave of the day. Please check your emails for notification within the hour, but as always, we recommend attempting to log in just in case. This brings us up to ~88% of all accounts now returned.

Our next wave will take place on Friday, and with our current projections, we expect this to bring us to almost all accounts having been restored (> 99%).

Wave 5 - 15:15 Game Time, April 8th

Hello everyone,

Wave 5 has now released, our first of two planned for today. Please check your emails for notification within the hour, but as always, we recommend attempting to log in just in case.

Wave 6 will take place later this afternoon should everything go to plan, and we'll let you know as soon as this has rolled out. By the end of today, we expect to have returned around 88% of all accounts.

Tomorrow, we intend to release Wave 7 which we currently project will bring us to almost all accounts having been restored (> 99%). We'll be back later today with more news on Wave 6 as soon as we have it.

Wave 4 - 13:15 Game Time, April 7th

Hi all,

We have just released our fourth wave of accounts back into the game, bringing the total share of impacted accounts restored up to ~70%.

Emails will be sent to notify anyone returned to the game within the hour, but as always, we recommend also checking by attempting to log in just in case anything happens with your email!

What's Next

Our aim is to have the vast majority of accounts back in game by the end of this week and we remain on track to achieve this as it stands today.

We are currently working on our fifth wave of account restorations, which we expect to be ready to deploy tomorrow. We expect this wave to tip us well into the 80-90% range and we'll confirm the percentage of overall accounts returned as soon as we have this locked.

We are also lining up plans for a sixth wave which could potentially release on Friday - though this is strictly provisional at this time.

As we mentioned earlier, this is an active development situation - anything can happen and we can't risk the quality of the process at any stage. Things have gone mostly well so far this week, but there's always a potential for change. We'll do our very best to keep you updated along the way.

Wave 3 - 15:20 Game Time, April 6th

Hi all,

The third wave of account returns has now been released (as of 15:20 Game Time). This wave is much larger than previous waves and we hope to continue scaling in this way as we restore more accounts in future waves.

Restored accounts have been emailed, though we also recommend attempting to log in just in case any issues occurred with receiving your email.

Wave 2 - 12:00 Game Time, March 31st

Hello everyone,

We've just released another larger wave of accounts back into the game as of 12:00 Game Time. It's great to see some of you back playing out there and to see more accounts returning to Gielinor.

We wanted to let you know that this will be our last wave before the UK Bank Holiday weekend, with our next wave planned for Tuesday, April 6th. We've done everything we can to expedite the process of getting you back into game, but given some of the now-fixed surprises Wave 1 provided, we need to make sure there's time to monitor for more abnormal behavior before proceeding. The time spent to do this now will inform the rest of our waves, ensuring we can move at a good scale and pace when we pick up next week.

Thank you for the continued understanding. We hope you have a great Easter break and we'll see you next week for more waves of accounts back in game.

Wave 1 | 12:00 Game Time, March 30th

The first wave of returning players will be rejoining the game shortly, as accounts begin to become unlocked. Those in the first wave will have received an email inviting them to log in.

This wave is a smaller one in order for us to build confidence in the restoration method. More players will have their accounts restored in coming waves, so please check back for more news.

KNOWN ISSUES

While it'll be business as usual for many of us (Game Updates will continue, content will release, etc.), there might be some unexpected side effects for accounts impacted by the Login Lockout. While we've done our best to minimise inconsistencies with account recovery, unfortunately a few issues remain unresolved. Rest assured however that we'll be working hard to make even the smallest detail right through that one-to-one aftercare we've mentioned before. More on that in a bit!

So what are those remaining issues? Let's dive into them.

  • Bank and Inventory will likely be jumbled, with items shuffled and disorganised.
  • Invention Perks may have been reverted to an earlier state. 
    • However, we have been able to refund most components for any perk rolls since the last saved state of your Perks. We have also added 50% extra of any returned components.
  • Some player-owned farm animals might be missing.
  • Some players will have been teleported to Burthorpe or Lumbridge.
  • Some UI settings might have changed.  
  • Potential for duplicated or missing items under certain conditions
  • Bonds and Keys may not be restored immediately upon your account being unlocked.
    • This is restored under a separate process and should be resolved shortly after deployment.

There may be more issues than listed here. We will update this list as needed.

We've tried our best to resolve as many issues as possible whilst also balancing the desire to get everyone back in-game as soon as possible. We know some of you might be more impacted by these issues than others, which is why we've set up a dedicated aftercare service for all affected players to use. We've also put together a bit of a care package to help kickstart your RuneScape experience!

AFTERCARE

They'll be doing their best to make anything right, even when we can't resolve something exactly how it was before the Login Lockout.

Login Lockout Aftercare

We mentioned it before, but we can't guarantee that everything can be returned to how it was, even with the help of this aftercare program. If this is the case, rest assured that we'll do what we can to make up for anything that's lost. We will do right by you.

Additionally, as much as we'd love to confirm a timescale by which we'll reply to individual tickets, please understand that the speed at which we can resolve them will vary based on volume. Please have patience while we work our way to your request.

We will be returning players wave-by-wave, which means we know some players won't be joining us in-game today. Work continues to restore these accounts, and when they are reactivated they'll also benefit from the above goodies and support with more if needed. It's still ongoing - ideas are being workshopped based on the feedback we've seen so far and we'll be talking about it in the near future. We're not necessarily limited to what we have announced so far being the only thing we do, plus we have the events and wishes to think about.

It's a discussion we're going to have with all of you for sure, including some destinations to provide thoughts / feedback, in the near future.

We think we've identified the issue. It does seem some people have been unblocked that are not in the first wave.

Fortunately, this is why we wanted to do a smaller wave initially to identify any quirks in this process so this is all good learnings for the rest of it. Please avoid playing for now and apologies for the scare that login must have been for you!

Just to follow up, we think we've identified the issue. It does seem some people have been unblocked that are not in the first wave of restoration deployments and we're working on fixing this asap. This isn't your restoration results, on the upside.

This is a good learning for us with this first, smaller deployment that will help us avoid it for the rest of the process.

componant refunds for missing perks, is simply not acceptable

i dont know the state of mine as of yet, but i in no way got each one the first try

You'll be refunded for each time you spent components for a Perk roll, if that's clearer. That's why we added the 50% extra to help add some allowance in case the odds fall less in your favor.

This won't solve it for everyone of course, and we do apologise - but it was the best possible solution we could achieve with our telemetry. We spent a lot of time trying every angle we could for Perks (and did make some big gains, both with this and having more of a 'reversion' than outright loss expected).

As we mentioned before, if you get in game and aren't satisfied with anything, please do reach out via the Aftercare process. Even if we can't directly return them, the team want to help make things right as best we can despite any limitations.

You aren't supposed to be in this wave, which is why you logged in to your account being in the wrong state. I'm afraid I don't have any more specifics for you than that, as I only know this due to the investigation we did into your account.

It's really going to be case by case so it's kind of hard to answer at this stage. Usually it will be directly resolving whatever is wrong.

When Player Support have the same limitations on something, like the Perk stuff, it may be related content (like even more components) or even something else to make up for your losses.

It'll be a two-way process in that way, other than potentially needing to be a little patient on the response times (depends on the volume we receive!).

We really want to offer that confirmation, but the call hasn't been made yet. We're monitoring this wave's success before the call on when the next waves will happen is made.

The feedback is with the team and they're actively working on some proposals for what more we can do for Ironman.

We did block all access for impacted accounts to quickly prevent unintended log-ins which - for the sake of speed - temporarily included the restored accounts for a quick moment there apparently.

This could still mean what I responded to you with still applies, but it may also mean you are back in. Worth a check!

Honestly we should have been much clearer all up on the Wish front. Really sorry about that. Because it's early in development, we decided to make it vague and mysterious - but in hindsight, we really should have just detailed the concept more.

Essentially, it will be a menu card of options to get things in-game - many of which will be inspired by things impacted players say they feel missed out on - which you'll get to choose between. The idea is these wishes will be pretty significant and you can pick wishes that are most relevant to what you want.

Everyone will get a wish at least, with impacted players getting several more. We haven't decided what these numbers are for sure just yet though.

To be decided on the Ironman front - there's a bigger discussion on what more we can do for Ironman accounts based on the feedback so far, and it's one we want to have again with all of you to see what you make of our plans.

The Wishes will almost certainly be pre-determined options, as they all take bespoke development work to make possible - so unlikely I'm afraid.

Hey everyone. We're still monitoring the first wave as more folks log in who were restored. No updates on our next waves to share just yet.

As a heads up, we've unfortunately had to postpone our plans for a stream tonight to talk about our April content. We've had some team availability changes happen last minute and we're all tied up on restoration wave work right now with the team.

For the sake of keeping our focus on this, we will go into revealing that content next week instead. We're also going to pull together a Leads Q&A alongside it since we've not had a chance to do one for quite some time.

In case anyone is concerned, we didn't have any updates to offer on the Login Lockout beyond what we've been saying already today so there's no information not being said because of it.

Looking forward to being back on stream with you all soon though!

Would suck to get to my POF animals on submission 3 and get a response saying sorry you’ve hit your limit for help.

Ideally in one report but you can submit across as many as needed, as long as it's reasonable.

Within reason is more just there to ask you include as much as you can in your reports and not hit us with a bunch of tickets individually - we need to do our best to respond to everyone as quick as we can, so it helps to do as much as you can per ticket.

That said, we expect people to find things later and we are allowing for some flex there too.

Hello everyone. Thanks for your patience today while we monitored the first rollout wave and fixed some of the initial issues that cropped up.

We just had our late afternoon regroup to confirm next steps - and we can now confirm the next wave will take place tomorrow rather than later today.

The team are rounding up the next players for restoration deployments over the rest of this afternoon, and we'll be prepping for the rollout as soon as we can tomorrow. We'll keep you updated on next waves and any further information as we get it.

We've just released another larger wave of accounts back into the game as of 12:00 Game Time. It's great to see some of you back playing out there and to see more accounts returning to Gielinor.

We wanted to let you know that this will be our last wave before the UK Bank Holiday weekend, with our next wave planned for Tuesday, April 6th. We've done everything we can to expedite the process of getting you back into game, but given some of the now-fixed surprises Wave 1 provided, we need to make sure there's time to monitor for more abnormal behavior before proceeding. The time spent to do this now will inform the rest of our waves, ensuring we can move at a good scale and pace when we pick up next week.

Thank you for the continued understanding. We hope you have a great Easter break and we'll see you next week for more waves of accounts back in game.

This is actually a mistake in the message. Your Double Daily Keys gets activated alongside the account unlock process, so it'll kick in from the day you return rather than April 6th.

Hey everyone. For those of you we've seen wondering about the Spring Festival, we just wanted to let you know anyone joining late will be given a significant amount of the tokens based on the number of days missed.

If you do end up missing the event entirely, we'll be sure to give you all the items unique to the Spring Festival store. This also applies to the April Fools items today.

In terms of the rollout, the monitoring of the Wave 2 rollout over today looks positive and we've seen some great first reports from players who are back in.

This monitoring step is something we're doing for every wave. It's really important that we treat your accounts carefully and we're there to support any major issues as soon as we can if something goes wrong.

The plus side is, after some surprises in Wave 1, the success of Wave 2 should mean we can release future waves with increased confidence. We plan to go even bigger for Wave 3, and we'll keep building on that as quick as we can to get everyone back in game.

You'll get the April Fools pet for sure.

We have seen the feedback on the butterflies experience this week but it's not something we have an answer for today.

The package going in on April 6th is as it is, but there's nothing to say we can't do more beyond that - either through the events or something else. We'll make sure the butterfly feedback is part of these discussions going on in the team too.

(And to any Ironmen reading this, this includes what more we can do for you all up, that hasn't fallen off our radar)

Morning everyone. Just dropping in to let you know we have another wave prepped and in testing - we'll have a Go/No Go call at 12 to confirm this can go ahead.

Provided everything goes to plan, our next wave should be early this afternoon. Like wave 1-2, the third wave is much bigger than the last one but there's still more to come before everyone is back in.

April Fools Pet: Yes

Spring Festival: If you get in late, we'll give you a hefty amount of the Spring Tokens based on days missed. If you miss it entirely, the cosmetics you will get for sure but no decision has been made on the other bits though. We'll pass the feedback along.

We are go for our next wave today. There's a small wait to prepare the accounts onto the live servers, the unlock process etc - but it should be no later than 2pm Game Time.

Latest from the team - since the ingestion is going a little slower than expected, we can't pinpoint a specific ETA right now (see what just happened with the 2pm Game Time bit!) but our hope is within the hour. I stress the word hope for now as the bigger wave has already taken longer than expected.

Just to be super clear - everything is still on track for today, nothing is in jeopardy there, it's just a matter of when the live transfer process finishes. We'll pass any news as we get it.

The third wave of account returns has now been released (as of 15:20 Game Time). This wave is much larger than previous waves and we hope to continue scaling in this way as we restore more accounts in future waves.

Restored accounts have been emailed, though we also recommend attempting to log in just in case any issues occurred with receiving your email.

The wave based releases are so we can deliver relevant improvements / fixes to the translation process before restoring certain accounts that have been identified as needing extra work. This has all been going on alongside the wave deployment work.

Basically, it means you should be restored just as well as everyone else, but we just need to do some extra things to best ensure that.

Hey everyone,

To kick off today, we want to give you a slightly more forward-looking update on the Login Lockout waves for the next two days.

In order to give you this more forward looking information, we need to stress that this is all provisional. This is an active development situation, anything can happen and we can't risk the quality of the process at any stage. Yesterday's processing taking ~2 hours longer than expected is a prime example of some of the unknowns these deployments can throw up at us.

However, this is our current projection as of this morning:

Currently Underway

We have prepared a significantly sized wave as of last night that is now processing. Processing this may take all day and has the potential to land anywhere from late this afternoon to early tomorrow - we'll keep you informed as soon as we have an indication.

This next wave will take us up to ~70% of all impacted accounts being back in game.

What's Next

Our aim is to have the vast majority of accounts back in game by the end of this week.

While Wave 4 continues processing, we are also preparing Wave 5 for testing and checks ready for release - we expect this to be sometime on Thursday. Once we have more details on this deployment, we'll let you know what to expect.

Wave 4 - 13:15 Game Time, April 7th

Hi all,

We have just released our fourth wave of accounts back into the game, bringing the total share of impacted accounts restored up to ~70%.

Emails will be sent to notify anyone returned to the game within the hour, but as always, we recommend also checking by attempting to log in just in case anything happens with your email!

What's Next

Our aim is to have the vast majority of accounts back in game by the end of this week and we remain on track to achieve this as it stands today.

We are currently working on our fifth wave of account restorations, which we expect to be ready to deploy tomorrow. We expect this wave to tip us well into the 80-90% range and we'll confirm the percentage of overall accounts returned as soon as we have this locked.

We are also lining up plans for a sixth wave which could potentially release on Friday - though this is strictly provisional at this time.

As we mentioned earlier, this is an active development situation - anything can happen and we can't risk the quality of the process at any stage. Things have gone mostly well so far this week, but there's always a potential for change. We'll do our very best to keep you updated along the way.

Just jumping back in to let you know we expect to have two waves today - one wave relatively soon followed by a larger one later this afternoon. We don't quite have an ETA for the first one but the hope is we'll be landing around late morning / very early afternoon.

Just to be clear, this isn't Friday's wave being pulled into Thursday, so we'll still end up in the 80-90% returned range. Friday's wave should bring us to pretty much all accounts being restored. As soon as we have any further news, I'll be back with more.

Just an update to this - in the processing of Wave 5, we've caught some discrepancies that have set our timelines back a little.

We're still expecting to squeeze in both Waves today, but our first wave will likely arrive early-mid afternoon now. We'll keep you apprised as we go.

Hello everyone!

Wave 5 has now released, our first of two planned for today. Please check your emails for notification within the hour, but as always, we recommend attempting to log in just in case.

Wave 6 will take place later this afternoon should everything go to plan, and we'll let you know as soon as this has rolled out. By the end of today, we expect to have returned around 88% of all accounts.

Tomorrow, we intend to release Wave 7 which we currently project will bring us to almost all accounts having been restored (> 99%). We'll be back later today with more news on Wave 6 as soon as we have it.

Progress:

Mining and prayer seem to be lower that it was before i got kicked.

Seem to be missing bonus exp in a number of skills most notably attack, defense and crafting. Possibly more but those are the only three i can recall with absolute certainty.

Character:

Noting major but it's notable that i was female before the rollback. cosmetics also seemed to be reset as a result. These can be fixed manually but i thought i'd throw these in for some data points.

We won't be able to help you here. Please do submit this as a ticket - give it a bit as it sometimes errors out under load.

PSA: Anyone returned to game today has been given all the new 2021 Spring Festival unique unlocks for free given it's late into the event. This is in place of tokens and will also apply to any of you getting in tomorrow.

(Note: The Butterfly Outfit is not included in this).
