I bought this tablet 2 years ago for $250 in hopes that I would be able to play RuneScape on it. At the time, I still couldn’t download the game on it, but I figured since it’s still in beta that’s understandable. Well, yesterday the game has fully released and I STILL cannot download or play RS3 on my tablet. I just don’t understand. I’m hearing everywhere people are playing them on iPads, and even people with substantially less specced out Android tablets are being allowed to download and play. I really don’t understand. This is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1., still by no means a relatively old tablet. I’ve heard nothing but radio silence from Jagex on this every single time I’ve asked over the years, I’m honestly ready to just sell it for an iPad.

Just wanted to vent a little, maybe I can get some of your experiences with mobile? Do you think trading for an ipad is worth it or should I just wait it out?

Hey u/chargedpking, could you confirm what Android version you are on, please? We currently only support devices over 2GB ram & that are on Android 8.0 or above.

Sure, looking in system info I am running Android Version 10. The tablet I own (Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 Inch) comes with 2gb of RAM. Let me know if I can supply any more info.

EDIT: Looking at system requirements on the RS Website, it says you support any device running android 8 and at least 2gb of RAM. So I am a bit confused, do I need more than 2gb or is that enough?

There's quite a lot of Samsung Galaxy Tab A's (like 40 different devices) so it's been a little difficult to pinpoint the exact one, but it ends up down to the chipset. Exynos chipsets are supported at the moment but the Qualcomm ones are the blacklisted ones. If you have an Exynos chipset then you should be able to play on that device.
