  1. Why is "Your crocodile failed to stack the scarab" a thing? It seems completely random when it happens and clicking again immediately after it happens almost always works. This is related to success-chance; at level 99 hunter I guess the catch chance is so close to 100% it felt like it was. Using an extreme hunter potion seems to bring this over 100% and I stop failing.

  2. Why does "stacking" scarabs not fill hunting urns? "stacking" scarabs does give the same XP as catching scarabs normally for all other boosts/bonuses... just not urns

  3. Why can you sometimes "stack" a scarab from across the pool and other times you have to run around the entire pool? Why is there any distance limit to it?

  4. Why can you not fill flowers while a crocodile is hunting?

I've caught over 34'000 scarabs while working towards 200m hunter and at times it drives me bananas... can these things PLEASE be fixed for future people?

Heya, I can answer these

  1. Yeah, success chance (something between 98-99% at level 99) - additionally, your success chance decreases a bit with each scarab you stack
  2. I would have said this is intentional, but as you've said other boosts/bonuses work with it this sounds like an oversight - I'll look into this :)
  3. TL:DR; Engine limits. I believe there's a cap of clicking 7~ tiles away from your character before you move. Unfortunately this is something that could have been planned better - it's not a problem I gave any thought to, as during dev I was working on scarabs on a test mapsquare, with a smaller pool (and thus was not running around the entire pool). By the time the scarabs were moved into the actual environment it was more or less finished, and I hadn't anticipated it to be as large a problem as it is. Learnings for next time!
  4. Originally you could - this was changed due to a nasty exploit (that couldn't otherwise be fixed without a system rewrite)

Thanks! How does shifting tombs let you click near render distance away from yourself without issues? Also does that exploit have to do with adding or removing? Seems like adding would be fine? Maybe Iā€™m wrong.

That's a reaaalllly good question that I'll have to look into (same for controlling nodon cannons I believe?) šŸ‘€ Iirc the exploit used both adding and removing unfortunately

Did anything come from this?

Not yet, but I haven't forgotten! I'll be looking into it during game jam at the start of next month
