Hey, I've tried reading several wiki pages and can't figure out if I am bugged or if something I am doing is preventing me from receiving golem fragments and Seren spirits. I've been mining Banite north of Fremennik for hours without receiving any fragments or spirits. I'm wearing full ruby golem, wearing a melee fight kiln cape, Grace of the Elves, and Luck of the dwarves, using a banite pickaxe. I also have a perfect mining juju, porters, and banite spirits. I tried not using porters or spirits and talking to the mining guild dwarf and still not working.

EDIT: Actually, /u/mumbullz/ recently posted that turning OFF "Guidance system hints" under Settings / Gameplay / Interfaces / Information Windows fixes the problem, and it worked for me! Sorry I didn't note it in my previous post; I just saw and tried it!

Comment from another user that fixed issue for me.

Thank you for editing in the links and sharing the info! Here's a more detailed version below:

If you're still experiencing this issue, to save you having to complete the new player paths in Burthorpe, you can toggle this option. It'll treat Turael's paths as complete, disable contextual guidance, remove onboarding constraints, and clear your path if necessary:

Open your Settings parent menu

• Desktop: press Esc or the cog on your ribbon, and then the Settings button

• Mobile: press the Home button in the top left, and then the Settings button

Then on the Settings parent menu:

• Gameplay tab

• Interfaces -> Information Windows -> untick "Guidance system hints"

Various mainland restrictions are applied to new players to more gently onboard them to the complexities of combat, the interface, and embedded sub-systems. These restrictions are eased as they progress through Turael's paths in Burthorpe.

On Monday, we removed a 100 total level check condition from the criteria that determined whether an account is classified as a new player, due to reports from players who unintentionally completed the paths by levelling up and weren't able to continue with them.

Unfortunately that means some players who were relying on that check to not have to complete the new player paths are now in a tutorial state, where more advanced features like secondary skilling drops are initially disabled and then gradually onboarded.

We're working on refining/removing specific new player restrictions, to minimise their impact. But if you're in the narrow slice of players that are affected, this toggle should help ensure you get those tasty skilling outfit fragments and Seren spirits in the meantime.

this could have been avoided by raising the level check instead of removing it.

It was originally twice that, but we received reports that players were getting locked out of content for too long. We've also tried other thresholds over the years.

Unfortunately it's quite a subjective thing. The combat level that's the ideal sweet spot for you may not be so for another player. A player may or may not want to engage in these paths. They may want to come back and do them later.

We considered changing the conditions to be more niche (incorporating quest point checks and so forth). But there's always going to be corner cases to a mandated condition.

Rather than continuing to make that decision for you through conditions outside of your control, we opted to remove the level check and put the power in your hands.
