s | hey everyone my name is Jason I'm a |
s | community manager at coffee stain |
s | Studios and today we're talking about |
s | new whoops sorry Mike uh we're talking |
s | about new blueprint improvements that |
s | are coming to satisfactory in update 8. |
s | now before we get into the uh the new |
s | stuff that's coming the stuff that is |
s | coming let's talk about some things that |
s | aren't coming because according to this |
s | video here according to the views on |
s | that you guys love it when I talk about |
s | things that aren't coming to |
s | satisfactory so let's uh get those out |
s | of the way and then we'll talk about the |
s | new stuff so the first thing that isn't |
s | going to be coming in update 8 is that |
s | we've gotten a lot of feedback from |
s | people who who want the blueprint |
s | designer to be bigger and we we aren't |
s | changing that in update 8. okay so we're |
s | going to keep that the same and another |
s | thing that isn't coming in update 8 uh |
s | is another thing that we've got a lot of |
s | feedback about which is issues with |
s | snapping the blueprint when building |
s | them we're not actually releasing any |
s | fixes for that in update 8 and the |
s | reason for that though is because we |
s | actually have already released a bunch |
s | of fixes throughout update sevens uh |
s | this updates seven period so most of |
s | those issues should uh have been |
s | addressed at this stage live right now |
s | for you to play with but both of these |
s | issues together blueprint sizes plus any |
s | snapping issues what we would really |
s | like is more feedback from you guys |
s | about this after update 8 comes out |
s | because we're going to talk about some |
s | other features that are going to come to |
s | the blueprint system now and so what we |
s | would like is uh your feedback on the |
s | dimensions of the blueprint snapping |
s | etc etc the entire experience after you |
s | get this entire package of new stuff |
s | right so what we're probably going to do |
s | with the QA site is when it comes to |
s | like the snapping stuff we're probably |
s | going to be marking those off as |
s | resolved and then what we would like is |
s | your feedback off drop to a drops to see |
s | well is the snapping experience resolved |
s | are there still issues that way we can |
s | see like well what is actually relevant |
s | feedback to the current state of |
s | blueprints and what isn't it could be |
s | also that like a lot of these quality of |
s | life issues will alleviate some of the |
s | stresses that people have had with with |
s | snapping but also with like the |
s | dimensions of the blueprint as well okay |
s | so that's why we kind of I want to put |
s | blueprint feedback on ice we're going to |
s | we're happy with what we're putting out |
s | for update eight and then you guys let |
s | us know what you think about that at |
s | that stage cool all right housekeeping |
s | is out of the way let's move on to the |
s | new stuff that's coming to blueprints |
s | the first thing that we're going to talk |
s | about is going to be quick switch so |
s | quick switch is not a new feature to |
s | satisfactory we've had it with |
s | buildables forever it's the thing where |
s | you can just tap e to toggle through |
s | different buildables uh within a |
s | category or you can hold e and that'll |
s | open up like a radial menu where you can |
s | choose different conveyor belt speeds or |
s | different kinds of Foundations or |
s | whatever so this is not a new feature |
s | but we're now bringing that feature to |
s | blueprints so what's going to happen now |
s | is that you guys can customize what |
s | blueprints you put into subcategories |
s | that was already in the system and now |
s | you can anything that's within a |
s | subcategory will be available via the |
s | quick quick switch system so if you put |
s | a bunch of related things in one |
s | subcategory in the blueprint designer |
s | menu you can hold a they'll all be there |
s | in the radial menu or you can tap e and |
s | you will cycle through it this can be |
s | really really useful in certain |
s | situations like if you uh build a |
s | subcategory of structural pieces for a |
s | big structure that you're making like |
s | out of Foundations then instead of |
s | having a bunch of different things on |
s | your hot bar you can just use the radial |
s | menu or tap e to cycle directly to them |
s | that'll clean up some space for your hot |
s | bar or another thing could be if you're |
s | building a larger Factory and you've |
s | created modules for that larger Factory |
s | for pieces of that larger Factory then |
s | you can put those all into one |
s | subcategory and very very easily select |
s | which ones you need so I think it's a |
s | really really handy feature nice Quality |
s | of Life Touch yeah I think it's |
s | inevitable that blueprints get this |
s | feature and I think it's great that we |
s | have it now so the next three features |
s | that I want to talk about address three |
s | of the biggest pain points when it comes |
s | to a blueprint designer that we've you |
s | know from feedback that we've gone from |
s | you guys and that is building blueprints |
s | in the wrong direction building |
s | blueprints in the wrong location and |
s | then having to dismantle the blueprints |
s | um that is a pain because you have to go |
s | and manually select everything and then |
s | you rebuild oh it's the wrong |
s | orientation all right it's one like |
s | pixel off or something and you have to |
s | go and dismantle all it again so these |
s | next three features address all these |
s | things |
s | the first thing is going to be a |
s | directional Arrow let's go an arrow it's |
s | just an arrow but this makes all the |
s | difference so now when you're building |
s | your blueprints uh there will be a |
s | little white Arrow which will point in |
s | the forward direction of the blueprint |
s | so you can ensure that the orientation |
s | you have of your blueprint is correct |
s | before building now what is forward in |
s | this case is considered to be in the |
s | direction of the little console that you |
s | see on the blueprint designer okay so |
s | that is the forward Direction |
s | um so now you know that you can think |
s | about that when you're you're you know |
s | designing your Blueprints and hopefully |
s | this will reduce uh the occurrence of |
s | you building in the wrong direction |
s | right hopefully that helps the next |
s | feature we have uh to tackle the next |
s | problem which is building in the wrong |
s | location is this brand new feature which |
s | I absolutely love I love this feature |
s | and this is called nudge mode so what |
s | nudge mode is is first of all it's two |
s | things it's the ability to lock a |
s | hologram in place you can now press h to |
s | lock your blueprint hologram in place |
s | and then you can walk around it and you |
s | can check is this position correctly or |
s | not right before building and if you're |
s | happy with it you click again and then |
s | it builds so when in nudge mode |
s | blueprint building becomes a two-click |
s | process but if not in nudge mode it's |
s | just the normal one-click process so |
s | nothing changes in the default case now |
s | what happens if you lock your hologram |
s | and it's not quite in the right place |
s | well that's where the nudge comes in |
s | right you can now use by default the |
s | arrow keys to nudge your blueprint in |
s | one meter increments along the |
s | horizontal plane so you can align things |
s | perfectly to where you want so now not |
s | only do you have an arrow to make sure |
s | you're facing it's the right way you |
s | have the ability to nudge it to wherever |
s | it needs to be which I think is super |
s | super good super helpful now not only |
s | that not only is nudge mode here for |
s | blueprints it's actually being applied |
s | across the board you can now use nudge |
s | mode for anything and this makes a lot |
s | of sense because not only can blueprints |
s | be large and unwieldy and hard to aim |
s | but we have some buildings that are |
s | large and unwieldy and hard to aim and |
s | hard to position like the particle |
s | accelerator that thing's huge or |
s | refineries right so like these kind of |
s | buildings are hard to position perfectly |
s | but now the fact that you can lock the |
s | Hologram with h enter nudge mode and |
s | reposition things is super handy across |
s | the board with any buildable at all one |
s | little caveat with nudge mode is that |
s | there is a maximum distance that you can |
s | nudge things so you can nudge them in |
s | one meter increments up to eight meters |
s | or up to half the width of the buildable |
s | that you're you're working with |
s | whichever is bigger so if you're working |
s | with really really really big buildings |
s | you can actually nudge a little further |
s | and we found that that works fairly well |
s | so I'm really excited to tell you about |
s | this I think you guys are going to love |
s | nudge mode super excited to see your |
s | feedback I can't wait to see your |
s | reactions in the comments below but also |
s | when people get to play with it I think |
s | I think it's going to be cool Okay so |
s | we've handled |
s | orientation building the wrong spot but |
s | what happens if you build the wrong |
s | thing or if you still end up building |
s | the wrong orientation or you still |
s | building in the wrong spot you know it |
s | could still happen it's still really |
s | really painful to dismantle blueprints |
s | by highlighting it's so tedious so we've |
s | actually created a blueprint dismantle |
s | mode I think you guys are going to be |
s | really excited to hear that this feature |
s | is now here it was so relieving when I |
s | heard about it and then when I used it |
s | it was just super super good as well uh |
s | felt really great so I'm so glad that |
s | this feature is here blueprint dismantle |
s | mode is exactly what you think it is now |
s | when you enter dismantle mode by |
s | pressing F that's the default key you |
s | can now press R to toggle what dismantle |
s | mode you want where either it's normal |
s | dismantle mode where you just highlight |
s | one thing at a time or you can go into |
s | blueprint dismantle mode where when you |
s | select one building that was part of a |
s | blueprint it then also selects |
s | everything that was part of that |
s | blueprint and this is going to be super |
s | helpful because it makes tearing down |
s | blueprints that you've built super quick |
s | and then you can reposition things and |
s | you can prototype without having to sit |
s | there and manually destroy everything |
s | it's super tedious um so this feature |
s | makes that so much quicker and so you |
s | might be wondering if you build a |
s | blueprint and then you dismantle like |
s | one of the buildings in that blueprint |
s | it's technically no longer the same |
s | blueprint what happens in dismantle mode |
s | in those cases dismantle mode remembers |
s | what buildings were part of the |
s | blueprint so even if you tear apart |
s | small parts of the blueprint you can |
s | still Mass dismantle the remaining |
s | elements of that blueprint without any |
s | issue not only that if you build other |
s | pieces within that blueprint so say part |
s | of your blueprint has two different |
s | buildings and then you manually go in |
s | and connect them with the conveyor belt |
s | later blueprint dismantle mode will |
s | still select the original two buildings |
s | you'll dismantle them and then the |
s | remaining conveyor belt will just stay |
s | floating there and then you'll have to |
s | go and manually dismantle those things |
s | so it's it's very very straightforward |
s | very easy to use uh and I think another |
s | another just godsend of a feature |
s | honestly I think you guys are really |
s | really going to appreciate blueprint |
s | dismantle mode as well so those are the |
s | new features that are coming in update 8 |
s | for the blueprint system I would love to |
s | hear what you guys think about it |
s | because I was really excited about when |
s | I heard these features and then I was |
s | really excited when I played with these |
s | features it they it's super great the |
s | team has done an amazing job so I would |
s | love to hear what you guys think put it |
s | in the comments below let me know let me |
s | know let me know and uh yeah I'll catch |
s | you guys next time on another video so |
s | have a lovely weekend everyone take care |
s | bye |
s | put them in the comments below because |
s | one I want to hear it also it's good for |
s | YouTube algorithm all right so feed both |
s | of us |
s | stupid |
s | let me read you the outro again I'm |
s | getting loopy I'm so tired okay |
