Not everything is some one "attacking you" or trying to fish for a "gotcha" moment. The example i gave was to illustrate the slippery slope that exists when nuance and context is thrown out the window.
So if I, a Hindu, were to wear a Swastika, you would think less of me because - check notes - Hitler did it 100 years ago?
Yes - if it was the traditional swastika used by Hitler.
Edit: I want to edit this comment to make what I mean by this perfectly clear for anyone reading this, cause clarity is important. If you're hell bent on wearing/displaying a swastika tilted by 45 degrees with the iconography used by Hitler, I don't trust you. Traditional in my original sentence was supposed to be a substitute for 'iconic', or 'design', I know that the design Hitler used is not the same as the religious symbol.
Swastika has a root in religion, but a Nazi salute does not. Bringing the two up together is just using Hinduism as a shield for your dogwhistles.
And remember, they are called dogwhistles because they can be easily excused, and if you call them out they call you the oppressor. Don't fall for their tactics.
End of edit. Like I said, I think this is crucial clarification and I don't plan to leave anything up for interpretation.
