I know it’s a thing for ‘true supporters’ and we are not forced to buy and stuff but 7500 diamonds only for change name color is insane.

also, to me the feature of more emote slots MUST HAVE BEEN FREE, like dude you cannot sell me a very basic feature bffr.

plus- 600 for a recolor of a skin that is already 2400 diamonds ? shouldn’t all prisms be like 300 or sumn ?

Agreed on this one - if you're selling digital goods there is no excuse to charge what is 50 EUR for something that did not take them more than a work day to complete.

Idc if it's 'supporter only' or whatever, it's scummy. But at least it did me a favor of making me take a step back when it comes to spending on this game, as it's reasonable to expect it'll only get more expensive from this point on.

They wanna charge these prices? Sure, and whoever likes them can pay them. But spending more than I'd pay for a brand new AAA game every 2 weeks is not something I plan on doing, and now that I've made peace with that, I can relax more on spending on it altogether.

Emote slots bother me the most lmao, cause you're already paying most of the time to get the emotes in the first place, so you're effectively paying to be able to display your paid-for emotes.

It's also the first instance of them actually locking some form of functionality behind a paywall, even if it's still technically just a cosmetic.

Also, the community has been asking for more slots since day 1, and they have been hyping it up in titan talks over time. To now turn around and say nu-uh you gotta first cash out the money equal to the cost of a small indie game is such a middle finger.

Its always been a whale system. Ever since TitanForge was made store practices became scummy. There were no more player friendly events where you could unlock a skin by playing doing quests. And prices went up, for digital pixels you dont even own lol

Of course, but this is the biggest display of it yet.

The audacity to tank the game, fire 75% of your workforce, and then go to players being like 'pwease pay for our 50 eur name colors so we can suwiwe' is incredible.

I'm genuinely shocked more people don't find this mind-bogglingly insane. The cost to value ratio here is insane, and the fact that it's hidden behind the shield of support is exploitative.

Wanted to jump in on this. First, want to make sure to reiterate the overall goal of this content is to simply support the game. We had a lot of requests for ways to do that and this was something the team felt strongly about implementing.

As to the feature itself, in the past I have been someone who regularly underestimates how much effort and time are needed to implement features so I can understand where you are coming from, but I'm afraid it isn't accurate. Let's for the sake of debate say hypothetically it was one full day (but it wasn't). That's designers, marketing folks, community managers, QA, monetization, and engineers who are all involved in designing testing and rolling this feature out. That's a full day all those individuals did not work on god balance, map testing, bug fixing, Wandering Market content etc... to develop a feature that wasn't going to come out for a while. The opportunity cost was a real factor.

This is completely optional content that is specific to the Supporter store and we understand that's not for everyone. Also? Really appreciate the feedback. This is something new and we want to understand how folks feel about it.

Thanks for the response. I think you understand that your input here is very appreciated, regardless of the topic at hand.

Game dev has a lot to it, we all know that. A lot of it is your typical bureaucracy when things are being done in a corporate environment as you mentioned, but there's also overhead that ANY new feature has as there's some standard stuff that needs to be done for it (adding a new cosmetic type, implementing back end storage of it, etc etc). I really don't want to undermine the effort a day to day task takes, nor do I want to undermine the work the team does on a daily basis. We are both here because we are passionate about the game, just from different angles.

But, we all know why this is happening right now. The team has said on several occasions that Founder's Packs didn't sell as well as expected. To provide true value for the pricepoint you're charging for these new items, you'd have to do a mini founder's pack, and corporate just can't risk that with how badly they sold in the first place. Therefore, the only option is to create something that doesn't result in the company taking a risk at all and charge a massive price for it - simple mass profit.

If you want feedback, here's mine - none of the difficulties of game dev, in my eyes, excuse the fact that the price point of the feature here is still not proportional to the development time spent on it. I feel like it's not in good faith to argue that adding name colors and Mario Party World should cost the same amount. Furthermore, locking extra slots for global emotes is just not okay IMO, as people have already paid for those emotes in the first place.

I am being genuine with you when I tell you that pricing points like these have put me off spending on this game. Before the prices were known, I was really ready to spend a decent amount on this patch cause I do want the game to succeed, but there isn't a part of me that can justify paying that money no matter the cause. This is additionally soured with the global emotes slots, as that is functionality we already partially paid for just locked away.

Smite cannot afford to do this to its playerbase. The problem is that, as consumers, we know these prices aren't temporary and will just enable even higher price points in the future. That might not be on the table right now, but when enough people buy into it, all that will be left is that nice green line going up for the profitability of this quarter.

Ultimately, this discussion is not productive long term. The damage to the integrity has been done, and enough players already bought into it for the price point not to change.

I guess what I'm trying to explain in this long yapfest that I wrote above is that my outrage is mainly just because of how bad of a decision I consider this to be for the long term health of the game.

The fact that I feel like spending less on the game because of it means to me that there will be other people that will feel like that too, and that directly presents a danger to one of my favorite games of all time. I'm frustrated the decisions have been made that have the potential to push people away from investing in the game with something that was literally meant to do otherwise. I'm frustrated because these items could have been reasonably priced but they weren't, showing a sign of disrespect towards the community that has made Smite 2 last this long in the first place.

You posted 5 minutes ago and this thread is already on the front page. There's no need to create 10000 different posts for each person's opinion when you can just comment here.

Obviously it's your decision to with your finances as you wish, and if you think this is money well spent, I'm glad.
