@SylvainBeaudoi1 I plan on fixing any problems with the vita version, & I'll continue supporting it as much as possible (barring technical limitations)
@black056shadow I don't have a release date yet, but the Xbox and PS4 Multiplayer updates are in-progress, and I'm doing everything I can to have them ready as soon as possible. I'll keep you guys in the loop with the status on those when I've got more concrete info
@Darcevader5915 You'll need multiple switches to play co-op. Either by connecting to each other online, or via local communications play, where everyone is within close proximity of one another.
It's come to my attention that there are frame rate issues with the Switch update, esp. on large farms. I'm really sorry about that, and I'm seeing what can be done. Leaving a detailed report on the support forums could help narrow down the issue: https://bit.ly/2QyHjGL
@thicczag Thank you, I'll make note of this. Also, just to clarify to anyone reading this: The forum thread I linked to is good for all bug reports in the switch MP update, not just those relating to the frame drop issue. All bug reports are very helpful, thank you
In short, my highest priority is going to be fixing any issues in current versions of the game, and getting the 1.3 multiplayer updates to consoles. Since I'm not personally doing the console work, I have been spending my time working on a new free update for Stardew
The new game that I've been working on (still secret) is currently on hold while I work on Stardew Valley. But I really want to work on both, so my plan in 2019 is to form a team to help me maintain & update Stardew Valley, so I have time to work on my new game as well as Stardew
I love Stardew Valley and I will continue working my hardest to make it the best it can be. As always, thanks so much for your support and encouragement :-)
Stardew Valley is 25% off on Steam for the winter sale... If you're thinking of trying out Stardew for the first time, this might be a good opportunity. Plus on PC you can play with mods (Stardew has a really great modding community!) Hope you're all having a nice holiday season
Also, want to let the Switch players know that we've got a patch on the way to address the frame rate issue (and the weird lighting bug)... doing everything possible to get that patch to you as soon as possible! thanks for your patience
@ShylaSnoot There's just too much that I want to do now, Stardew itself could be a full time job for the rest of my life. But I also want to work on my new game. I just can't do it all myself anymore. I'm currently working on new Stardew stuff, solo, and have lots of ideas to expand further
@zantho1911 The console multiplayer updates are in progress. I'm doing everything I can to get them out as quick as possible. I don't have a solid release date yet but my hope is it will be within the next few months. I'll announce when I have anything more concrete to share
@JoshTheriault2 Yes, PS4 and Xbox are getting the multiplayer update. There's a whole process and it takes a while, especially considering the more stringent Quality Assurance requirements on consoles. I'm doing everything I can to get it out ASAP
@MommaOshawott My estimate is that the new update will be out within the few months. I'm sorry it seems like console users are being ignored, that's not my goal at all. After this update I am committed to having simultaneous releases across consoles and no more Switch 1st, Xbox/PS4 2nd
@jbeall22 There's absolutely no difference in gameplay between male and female characters in Stardew Valley. That's odd though, I'd suggest maybe checking to see if her control settings are different from what you're used to?
@MidniteGenesis In the new free content update I'm working on (1.4), I'm adding a "beginner's rod" that you can buy if you're struggling to get into fishing. It will make it easier to catch low-level fish and level up your fishing skill, but can't be used to catch high quality or rare fish
@ArcticStars0528 @Izacistan It's just the internal engine of Stardew Valley, I don't have a name for it. It's not a general engine that could be used for any other game
@Itsyaboiadam1 @MidniteGenesis I don't personally do the console ports, so my working on 1.4 doesn't affect the release timeline for 1.3 ... but getting 1.3 to PS4/Xbox is top priority, and I'm doing everything withing my power to get it out as soon as possible
@James_E_G @MidniteGenesis I don't personally do the console ports, so my working on new content has no effect on the release timeline. If there was anything I could do to make it go faster, I would. I really, really want to get the update out to Ps4/XBOX, trust me
@Laura50770963 @MidniteGenesis I don't work on the console ports myself... I'm doing everything in my power to get the updates to console ASAP, but there's only so much I can do. Me working on new content doesn't affect the release timeline of 1.3 on consoles.
@ShadowkillerG I'm doing everything I can to get it out as soon as possible. My estimate is that It should be out within the next few months. I can't really be more precise than that at this point. As soon as I know anything more, I'll announce it.
Risk of Rain 2 came out yesterday.. Hopoo Games are fellow Seattle devs and really hardworking, fun & great guys... #1 on the steam charts and no one could be more deserving! Check it out! https://twitter.com/RiskofRain/status/1111336839468728320
@DannyColes93 It's in QA (Quality Assurance) right now. There have been some technical hurdles to deal with, but Sickhead Games is working on it (And the PS4 update)
Hi everyone, quick update on what's going on: Most important is still the PS4/Xbox MP update. Couple of technical roadblocks delayed those but they are in Quality Assurance phase now. My estimate is that they will be out next month. Will share more definite info as soon as I know
Simultaneously, the next free content update (1.4) is coming along very well, it's packed with new stuff and "quality of life" features that will make playing Stardew smoother and more fun. 1 example is the ability to pay Marlon to recover a lost item when you "die" in the mines!
Also want to share a link to a job posting for an "administrator" position on the new Stardew Valley team I'm in the process of forming: https://www.stardewvalley.net/administrator_needed/ please check it out if you're interested!
@Croakynorbi55 Everything new in the update will be available in multiplayer as well as single player! Actually there are a few new features which are multiplayer-only, but nothing that is single player-only
Hi everyone, I'm seeing the comments & concerns here, and there definitely seems to be a discrepancy between what I'm looking for in this position and how people are interpreting the posting. I'll need to adjust the posting if it's not conveying the intention properly
wish I'd made the listing clearer in some way to not seem overwhelming. I've been doing all the intended tasks myself for the 7 years of development/release and it only takes up a minority of my time, I would only add addt'l tasks as a new administrator would be able to handle
Just to be clear, I've been doing the tasks with the help, of course, of my accountant, lawyer, payroll and HR software. This position isn't to take over those responsibilities, just help me in managing or interfacing with those existing systems, if that makes sense
Hey everyone, just wanted to share this screenshot from the upcoming 1.4 update! It's a big one, & this image only reveals a fraction of what's coming. Featured here is a new farm map called Four Corners that's perfect for the much requested "separate money" option in multiplayer http://pbs.twimg.com/media/D5LlafGUUAAV2Vt.png
@xAquae There is one shared cave, shared community center, mines, etc. You're still working together to achieve common goals, it's just a little more independent (which leads to some interesting gameplay)
@XxSkyfallMaxX If you have an existing multiplayer farm, money will remain shared, but you can go to the Mayor's house to separate (or re-join) the money at any time. If you separate it, the current funds will be split evenly among the players. For new farms you can set the option at start
I think my last tweet might have given the impression that the new update will be focused mostly on multiplayer stuff, so I want to make clear that 95% of what's in this new update is meaningful for both single-player and multi-player. That's always my goal with new content!
Hi everyone, I want to apologize for not being more frequent w/ updates about the state of the console multiplayer. XBOX/PS4 are both in certification, I've been told there are just a few fixes and then they can release. Please let me know if I can answer any of your questions
@ConnorRosine Vita will likely not get more content patches (it will probably stay at 1.1), however people have reported some technical issues with it and I'd like to get those fixed
@ShamrockSimmer I can't promise that split screen will ever happen. I think it might be extremely difficult because of the way stardew's code is written. But it is a very popular request and something I would be happy to see as a feature. I promise I'll at least give it a thorough investigation
@Matzewrath It was in QA(quality assurance) stage for a while, which is different than cert (certification is done by the platform to ensure nothing is going to fry the console). The process is usually: development > porting > QA > cert > release ... right now we're looping on the cert stage
@SeanOwe60614333 hey, so a rough timeline for the PC update is "within a couple months", but at minimum it will be after the console MP updates. You can expect lots of quality-of-life and bug fixes, and added depth to most areas of the game. I'll share more in the near future! thx for bug report
@bismuthuupa the 1.4 update has some end-game content that happens after the CC/JojaMart storyline, as well as a bunch of quality of life stuff. There's always more improvements that can be made and I'm open to at least considering anything for future updates too
@DangerousFunny the 1.4 update will fix a bug that was making dino eggs rarer than they should be, and also includes another more certain way to get dino eggs
@Mutsumiwins It is used, but maybe not enough.Clint goes there on Fridays, I think, Mayor Lewis occasionally goes and stands by the vault, and I think a few others will stop in once a week
@zakdoestweets I think I could keep updating stardew valley for the rest of my life, but I do want to make new games as well. Still trying to figure out that balance!
@RealStealth my goal going forward is for all consoles (Switch/PS4/Xbox) to get updates simultaneously. PC will probably still continue to get updates first, but Ideally the time between the two would be minimal
Update on the console MP: the update was put back into certification late last week after failing certain MP-specific platform requirements, like needing a way to access player profiles from in-game. I am praying that it passes this time which could mean a release later this week
@seculardracula The port should be a lot less tricky, as 1.3 -> 1.4 doesn't fundamentally change the underlying code for stardew valley like 1.2 -> 1.3 did. So I am counting on a much smaller gap between releases. Also, all consoles will get the update simultaneously rather than switch first
@haoco_tang Yes, this update is on its way as well. It's also in the same certification cycle as the multiplayer updates for xbox and ps4 but it could potentially come out at any time.
@DangerousFunny while I was putting in a certain obscure new feature, I was thinking to myself "I guarantee DangerouslyFunny is going to make a video about this"... we'll see haha
Heard from the porting team today... seems the Xbox/PS4 multiplayer update won't be out this week. I'll keep you updated as soon as I know anything further. Thanks for your patience everyone
Just heard back about the XBOX/PS4 MP update. There are further technical issues that are being resolved. I can't say definitively when it will be ready. As soon as I know anything about a concrete release date I will let you know immediately. Thanks again for your patience
