Observations from outside the beta

The Frigate beta phase is almost three weeks in, thousands of random yahoos are playing, and I still don't know what the third race is. How this is possible? Frost Giant has managed to convince a horde of gamers to keep their mouths shut, to some large extent.

If Frost Giant hasn't threatened their families, I assume these BM RTS players are only complying for fear their beta access would be revoked. I'll conclude that the current state of the game is, if not more fun, at least not less fun than it was in elephant.

Of the top 100 players on the leaderboard, only three have played less than 50 matches. One of those is Veni Vedi Vici (47 matches), who happens to be Parting, who is also at the top of the ladder, under his own name, with another 183 matches.

11 people in the top 100 have played over 300 matches. The most matches president is currently GosuDark, at 308–235. Assuming a 10 minute game average, that would be 91 hours of gameplay, or 5 hours every single day since beta started.

the testers are playing the crap out of frigate. any other leaderboard observations?
