Happy upcoming holidays, Stormgaters!

As we get ready to enter the new year, we’d like to give one final report on how balance is and one final game update to close out the year. In the last month, since the last big balance patch, all three factions have taken turns being both the leading race and the lagging race. Over the last month overall, Vanguard is at 48.6%, Infernals is at 51.31%, and Celestials is at 50.64%. Balance is better than it has ever been since EA launch, but we can certainly make some improvements. Before the holidays, we’d like to put out an update with the primary goals of shaking up the game, reducing player frustration in specific situations, and providing more rewarding interactions. Tim Campbell here. We’d like to take a moment to reflect on where Stormgate is today and share our vision for the road ahead. Those of you who have been following our journey already know that the last few months have been incredibly challenging for us, though they’ve also been deeply enlightening.

We know that our Early Access launch didn’t meet your expectations–or ours. We felt pressure to get our game into players’ hands, but doing so before the game could make a positive first impression was the wrong move. Key areas of the game needed significantly more time to develop and we released far too early. That mistake is on us, and we regret it.

This update focuses on improving and expanding the Co-op experience. We are introducing a new Vanguard hero, Ryker, with his own set of new units and upgrades and gear items. We’ve also raised the Hero level cap to 20, providing all of our Heroes with more Gear options to unlock and stat boosts to earn.

We will be taking the servers down for emergency maintenance to optimize matchmaking. Servers will be down for up to 2 hours while we deploy these changes. Thank you for your patience.

Servers are now back up and ready! This maintenance fixed a bug where matches were not searching long enough for an optimal matchup. We hope this makes the matchmaking experience more enjoyable for all.

We have implemented a small hotfix to fix issues players are experiencing with the Sovereign’s Watch ability.

In order to see the changes, please ensure you have installed the latest update through Steam.

Patch Notes:

• You may now only cast the Sovereign's Watch Top-Bar ability on grounded structures. For example, Arcships are no longer targetable. Sovereign's Watch can still attack enemy grounded structures.
  
• Fixed a bug where you could cast Sovereign's Watch near a friendly flying Collection Array. You can only cast Sovereign's Watch near grounded Collection Arrays.
  
• Fixed a bug where the Sovereign's Fury upgrade was adding more damage to Sovereign's Watch than intended.

Welcome to Patch 0.1.3!

In this patch, we’re sharing the results of a fun partnership with Artosis on a pair of modified Custom Maps for you to try out. We’re also introducing a new 1v1 Map, Ruination, to our Custom Games lobby and we’ve brought Infested Crater back into the Co-op map rotation after applying performance fixes. We top this patch off with some bug fixes, performance tweaks, and finish with a healthy dose of balance updates.
